Thomas Rhett created an unforgettable moment that the crowd, and one fan in particular, will never forget during a stop on his Better In Boots Tour. Following his headlining show at the PNV Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, NJ, a new video surfaced online capturing the sweet moment Rhett made his way into the crowd mid-set to hug an 87-year-old fan in celebration of it being her very first country concert.

The heartwarming exchange that took place on July 10 quickly became the talk of the night and the internet.

The video that has since racked up over 45k views shows a woman holding up a bright yellow sign that read, “My mom is 87 years old and this is her first country concert.”  The message clearly caught Rhett’s attention because without hesitation, he jumped off stage and over the barricade to meet the fan behind the sign.

“I just want to hug you, can I hug you?” he can be heard asking in the following video.

Seconds later, Rhett was in the crowd giving the 87-year-old a warm embrace and she returned the love with a kiss on the cheek, causing fans around them to scream in excitement. The woman is seen beaming with joy, clearly overwhelmed in the best way, as the surrounding crowd cheers and smiles right along with her.

Her daughter, who helped make the moment happen, thanked all the kind fans around her with a round of high fives.

The user who posted the video praised Thomas Rhett for his kind gesture as she wrote, ” Another reason why I love @Thomas Rhett 🥹🫶🏼 It was an 87 year old women’s first country concert and he took a moment to come into the crowd to give her a hug! Such a memorable moment that she will never forget! Just look at the smile on her face, I can’t stop watching it🥹🥹🥹”

Rhett himself even chimed in, commenting simply: “My girl,” to which the user replied, “A night her, and I and everyone around us will never forget!!! Thank you!!!!❤️”

Fans flooded the comment section not only praising Rhett for the kind gesture but also applauding the crowd’s respect in stepping aside to let the dream-come-true moment unfold.

The woman’s daughter, who is responsible for bringing the sign that caught Rhett’s attention, later took to her own TikTok page to reflect on the unforgettable moment and share why it was so meaningful for both her and her mom.

First, she explained what occurred in the moments leading up to Thomas Rhett taking note of the sign.

“When I got there, I showed the people around me, they were like 20 and 30 something year olds. I loved everybody around me. It was so much fun. And so when he came out, everybody’s like, ‘put the sign up. Put the sign up.’ And I was like, ‘not yet. Not yet.’ So he came around a couple of times on our side. I was in third row, and I put it up and I don’t think he saw it. And then the one time that I put it up, everybody was pointing at me. and he saw it. His eyes got real wide so then I put it down, and then this was halfway into the concert sort of, he’s like, ‘where’s that girl with that sign?’ And I was like, oh my God. I put it up and he started reading it. And then that’s what ensued.”

She went on to admit that she never thought the “Beautiful As You” singer would have that kind of reaction, but his kindness ended up making her and her mom even bigger fans.

“That made my mom’s entire life, and I’m not even kidding. It made mine too. Thank you so much, Mr. Thomas Rhett. You are awesome. Big fan.”

This memory will be one the woman and her mom will never forget, and it also marked a full circle moment as she revealed her mom took her to her first-ever concert back in the day and she was proud to return the favor all these years later. In her final video reflecting on the events that took place, the user explained that they lost their father and husband back in 2020 and getting to meet Thomas Rhett was a moment of brightness in a long journey of grief.

“We have been struggling emotionally with the loss of him. Us being two girls living together on our own, it’s a struggle,” she shared honestly. “So if I can bring one moment of joy to someone in my family, especially my mom, I was going to do it and I succeeded. So thank you again, Thomas Rhett. Love you. Love you, love you.”
