Opening for Riley Green in Franklin, Tennessee was more than just another gig for Watkins – it was a special hometown show.

Hey Country Now, I’m Lauren Watkins and I’m going to be doing a photo diary of my day opening for Riley Green in Franklin, Tennessee. I grew up in Nashville so this was a hometown show for me, and it was such a fun night. Follow along!
Arriving to the Venue
I got to the venue and found this sweet box of gifts from the venue! Will definitely be putting this stuff to good use.

Soundcheck
Time for soundcheck! I’d never been to FirstBank Amphitheater before but it was so beautiful. I played a few songs with my band and looked out at the view.

Getting Ready
Time to get ready for the show! I always enjoy the getting ready process. It relaxes me before getting on stage. I typically sit and do my hair and makeup while my band hangs out and plays music. We always have a good time.

Pre-Show Prayer
My band, team and I always huddle up before every show to pray. It grounds us and reminds us why we do what we do.

Pre-Show Jitters
Right before we go on stage my band and I will shake off some of the pre-show nerves as we listen to our intro song – “Turn it Loose” by the Judds. I still get nervous before most shows but we always hype each other up and cheer each other on. Getting to play music with people I love puts me in the right headspace for showtime.

Show Time
Show time! This crowd was so fun and energetic. It’s always special getting to play for my hometown!

I wanted to go with something simple. Something that still felt like me but still fitting for a special occasion. So I went with my go-to Frame denim shorts and a vintage gingham button down.

This is one of my favorite moments in the set. During my song “Mama I Made It,” my band plays an extended outro and I grab my tambourine we call “Tammy” and we all jam together.

Performing With Riley Green
The Damn Country Music Tour has been such a blast so far, and I’m so grateful that Riley lets me come out every night to sing “Dixieland Delight” with him and the other openers.

That’s A Wrap!
That was so much fun! Thank you Franklin for having us and welcoming us with open arms!
