Season 16 American Idol winner, Maddie Poppe, is headed on tour and she’s bringing fellow Idol alum, Megan Danielle along for the ride.
Poppe took to social media on Thursday, June 29 to announce her upcoming stint of shows taking place throughout the summer.
She wrote, “So excited to have @AmericanIdol Season 21 runner-up @megandanielle join me on my summer tour!! Tickets are available at the link below NOW! Can’t wait to see you all!!🎉”
Once the news dropped, Danielle shared her own excitement to join Poppe on her first tour since winning second place on the singing competition show.
“EXCITING NEWS! 🥳🥳 I’m so excited to hit the road this summer with @MaddiePoppe 🤍,” the rising artist wrote.
The two singer/songwriters will kick things off on July 6 in Swisher, IA and continue with a total of 20 stops before they wrap up the run with one final show in Tuscon AZ on August 26.
This tour marks yet another milestone for Danielle, following the release of her debut single, “Dream Girl.”
Co-penned by Season 17 Idol alum Laci Kaye Booth and Logan Wall, the new song dropped on May 19, just days before earning one of the highest honors on Idol.
Throughout her new song, Megan Danielle delivers a round of encouragement towards going after your dreams despite any obstacles that get in the way.
Her cutting-edge vocals speak volumes over the addicting, upbeat tempo and bold drumbeats.
“Dream baby / Close your eyes and let your mind take you somewhere higher / Dream, baby / Paint your sky ’cause it ain’t like someone could paint it brighter / Don’t let nothin’ wake you up at night / ‘Cause it’s a mean world so go ahead and / Dream girl / Dream girl,” she sings on the chorus.
Danielle also opens the track with a powerful verse that pays tribute to country legends, Jo Dee Messina and The Chicks as she drops the names of their popular hit songs, “[Heads Carolina] Tails California” and “Wide Open Spaces,” respectively.
“‘Dream Girl’ just means just sharing a positive message with everyone because I feel like everyone can go through these dark times and it’s just a reminder that you can keep tracing your dream and keep going,” the singer/songwriter previously explained.
With the powerful meaning that’s interlaced within the lyics, Danielle went on to explain her desire for fans to relate to the song in their own way.
“I just hope when people hear the song, that they just feel the emotion and the love that I put into the song. Really, you can listen to Dream Girl anywhere, literally anywhere in the gym, in the car, when you’re sleeping, who cares? It’s, it’s such a positive song that I feel like anybody can rock out to it and just love it.”
The new single was also accompanied by a behind-the-scenes video that showcased the Georgia native’s creative process. She took fans through each moment of her time in the studio from laying down vocals to adding personal touches and finally, recording the final product.
The video was filmed at The Sound Factory in Los Angeles by Joel Manduke and edited by Sam Megna of Joshua One Nine Productions LLC.
“Here’s a look into the recording session for “Dream Girl,” she wrote on Instagram promoting the visualizer. “It’s so fun to watch this footage because it takes me right back into that room at Sound Factory. Since then, I’ve been blessed to be able to continue to record new songs that I can’t wait to share with you but in the meantime head over to youtube to watch the full BTS video!! EEEKK 🎶🤍”
Before hitting the road with Poppe, Megan Danielle will take the stage of the Alive Festival in Ohio on Friday July 14.
