Annie Bosko embraces her femininity and generates an unapologetic delivery of ’90s-inspired country songs in her just-released, self-titled EP.
Out January 5 via Stone Country Records, the five-track project serves as a refreshing introduction to Bosko’s spirited vocals and uplifting messages as she enters the next chapter of her career.
With the help of producers Derek George and Mickey Jack Cones, the songstress uses this collection of simple, yet healing country songs to vocalize her desire to release music that celebrates the sounds and artists who have inspired her throughout her career. Each of the five tracks features elements drawn from musical legends such as Patsy Cline, Shania Twain, George Strait, Dwight Yoakam, The Beatles, and more.
“I don’t think I’ve been able to capture it all this well before,” Bosko said in a recent statement about the EP. “There’s a beauty of getting to a place where you stop trying to please people or chase what you think is cool, and just do what’s in your heart. It’s about creating what you feel the world needs right now, and for me, I miss those songs that made me move to Nashville.”
Catering To Country Music Lovers Everywhere
Annie Bosko began her journey to becoming a professional singer at just 14 years old when she lent her vocals to the soundtrack of Disney’s Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea. Three years later, she brought original songs to the stage when performed as an opener for Deana Carter, and in 2014, she broke onto the country music scene with the SiriusXM/CMT hit “Crooked Halo.” Bosko has since built up an impressive resume as both a singer and a songwriter. She is credited for penning songs recorded by the likes of Willie Nelson and Jessica Simpson while getting the chance to open for artists like Tim McGraw, Dierks Bentley and Blake Shelton.
This new EP geared towards country music lovers everywhere is further proof that Annie Bosko is a force to be reckoned with in this industry. Working alongside songwriters like Lainey Wilson, Jeffrey Steele, Bridgette Tatum, Danny Myrick and more, she stands true in her fearlessness while concurring a mix of maturity, gratitude, clever tongue-in-cheek anthems, female empowerment and straight-up boot-stomping, party tracks.
“The thing that excites me about this new music is I feel rejuvenated,” she added. “I’m done being afraid to show my country roots. And I’m doing it with a modern twist.”
Sharing The New Music On Late Night TV
In honor of her new release, the California native will return to her home state tonight, January 8 to make her late-night debut on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” airing 11:35/10:35 CT on ABC. While on the show she will perform her first single with Stone Country Records, “Neon Baby,” a sultry track off the new project that debuted as the third most-added song at country radio. While making the announcement via social media, Bosko admitted she’s “speechless” to get to share her music on this new platform.
Penned by Bosko with Bridgette Tatum and Jeffrey Steele, “Neon Baby” lights up the night with a romantic narrative fueled by a bit of whiskey and the mood-setting sounds of a “vinyl playing Haggard and Jones.”
“I’ll be your neon baby / I’ll drive you midnight crazy / I’ll hit your lips like whiskey / When you lean in to kiss me / Put that whiskey down and kiss me again and again / Turn me on / I’ll be your neon, baby,” she sings on the chorus.
