Bailey Zimmerman Scores Sixth No. 1, Celebrates With ‘Chevy Silverado’ Music Video

Bailey Zimmerman is celebrating another major career milestone as “Chevy Silverado” reaches No. 1 on the Mediabase Country radio chart, marking his sixth career No. 1 at country radio. The country act marked the milestone by taking fans back to where it all began with the release of the song’s official music video, filmed in his hometown.
Directed by Isaac Mason, the video follows Zimmerman as he cruises through the small town of Louisville, Illinois, behind the wheel of the vehicle that inspired the song’s title. The first clip finds the singer/songwriter hugging his mom before grabbing his keys and telling her he is heading out for a drive with his friends.
He opens the garage door to reveal the white Silverado at the center of the song’s story, then to set the scene for the storyline, he takes a glance at a crumpled “sun-bleached Polaroid” of a former love interest and places it on the dashboard. Turning up the radio, “Chevy Silverado” begins blasting through the speakers, serving as the perfect soundtrack as Zimmerman hits the road.
After stopping for gas, he travels down gravel roads to pick up a few friends before the group cruises through Illinois cornfields, singing and enjoying the upbeat tune together. Beneath the feel-good road trip is a story about finally letting go.
Co-written by Zimmerman along with Tucker Beathard, Ilsey Juber, Gavin Lucas, and Heath Warren, the song centers on a young love that got lost along the way. Even though the singer might not have the girl anymore, he still has the truck that holds all the memories of their past relationship. Throughout the song, Zimmerman wrestles with the possibility of getting her back, even imagining that his Silverado could “drive all night” to find her if she asked him to.
“Help me out, tell me how’d your heart get so cold?/ Tell me when did our young love get so old?/ Went from holdin’ on tight to lettin’ me go/ I said I loved you, and I wish you never said it back/ Take the sun-bleached Polaroid off my dash/ I ain’t got the girl in it, but I still have/ This white Chevy Silverado/ And it’ll drive all night to get to you tomorrow,” he delivers on the chorus.
However, as he sings the line “Went from holdin’ on tight to lettin’ me go,” he throws the Polaroid out of the truck window, signaling that he is finally ready to leave that part of his life in the past. With the sun setting over the Illinois countryside, the “Just Believe” singer eventually returns to the same garage where his journey began, but this time with an extra weight off his shoulders.
Upon learning the news that he has added yet another top-charting track to his resume, Zimmerman took to social media to thank everyone who helped him reach this achievement and support the song’s journey.
He wrote, “With this being my 6th number 1 song I wanted to do something special for y’all… soooo “Chevy Silverado” Music Video ft. my mom is out now… I hope yall love it as much as I do❤️Thank y’all for getting this one all the way to the top, you truly have no idea how much it means to me… LOVE YALL FOR REAL🔥🤘”
“Chevy Silverado” was released over a year ago and appeared on his sophomore album, Different Night Same Rodeo, which debuted in the Top 15 of Billboard’s Top 200 All Genre chart and Top 3 of Billboard’s Country Albums chart via Atlantic Records/Warner Music Nashville.
The multi-platinum country superstar recently wrapped the sold-out North American leg of his debut headlining arena tour, The Different Night Same Rodeo Tour, where he brought his high-energy live show to more than 30 venues across the U.S. and Canada.
Zimmerman was originally set to bring the trek overseas to the UK and Europe but just weeks before launching the run, he canclled every show. He explained that he made the difficult decision so he could remain focused on “important family matters.”
Fans can still catch him finishing out his remaining North American shows through September before stepping away again to “focus on me, my family and new music.”
He is next set to perform at the Washington State Fair on Thursday, September 17.
