Blake Shelton is ringing in the new year with a brand new song.
The superstar made an appearance on NBC’s New Year’s Eve for the debut of his new tune, “Minimum Wage.”
Shelton appeared virtually to introduce the song as well as premiere the music video to accompany the track.
The superstar also reflected on the past year, telling Daly, “I got engaged to Gwen Stefani. I don’t care what else happened besides that. That made it a great year for me.”
Speaking with host and fellow The Voice cohort, Carson Daly, Shelton revealed that his soon-to-be brother-in-law, Todd, directed the music video. (Todd also directed the “Happy Anywhere” music video, featuring Gwen Stefani.)
“Minimum Wage” finds Shelton crooning over his lover, admitting that her love is all he needs in life.
“Girl your love can make a man feel rich on minimum wage,” Shelton sings on the chorus.
After his performance, Twitter was a-buzz with comments about the track.
There’s no word on if or when “Minimum Wage” will ship to country radio or when it will be released to streaming services.
The song follows Shelton’s latest chart-topping singles, “Happy Anywhere” and “Nobody But You,” both of which feature his fiancée, Gwen Stefani.
