Bobby Bones and his wife, Caitlin Estell, are embracing a new chapter in their lives as they settle into parenthood following the birth of their daughter, Billie Celine Estell back in March. But behind the joy of welcoming their first child is a serious health battle Caitlin hasn’t opened up about until now.
In a recent audio-only episode of The BobbyCast, the couple shared that Caitlin was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease around four years ago which in turn resulted in her having a pretty difficult pregnancy. In order to manage her diagnosis, she was put on an oral chemotherapy pill to take daily, allowing her to feel “a lot better.”

Even though Caitlin was able to stay on the medication throughout the entire nine months, they found out in her second trimester that she had a high risk pregnancy.
“I had over forty ultrasounds and if you know anything about pregnancy and ultrasounds, I didn’t, normally, in a normal pregnancy you have two to three your whole pregnancy, and I had over forty. So it was really intense,” she shared.
The couple said that this brought on a lot of stress for them, going into every appointment not knowing if an issue would suddenly arise.
“I didn’t get to have that normal ultrasound experience where you get so excited to see your baby because a lot of times they we weren’t looking at her face. For a majority of the time, it was we’re checking her heart, we’re checking all of the things that this baby needs to be healthy. So it was very stress-inducing for pretty much my whole pregnancy.”
Luckily, their baby girl Billie was born perfectly healthy. They announced her arrival on Instagram, where they revealed that she is named after her grandfather.
Bones thought back to that very moment and revealed the second she was put on Caitlin’s chest, all their worries and nerves had finally eased and instead been replaced by an indescribable kind of love.
“You went through all that, you were very nervous about getting through it healthy. You’re very nervous obviously about delivering the baby. But as soon as Billie was born, like as soon as she was born and they put her on your chest, you lit up and you’re like, ‘I love her so much.’ It was just instant, no thinking…It’s like the number one moment,” he shares.

Caitlin can now say that one of the best parts of being a first-time parent is experiencing all the pure joy that has come with watching their baby grow.
“I knew I would love her, which it’s a whole different type of love I have never felt, but I knew I would love her. I just I don’t think I ever thought about the joy that would come with it. And I have so much joy, Like I think I enjoy life more. I find things funnier… just burst with joy every morning, like I can’t believe that Billie’s here again today, every day.”
Although the parents have chosen not to show Billie’s face on social media, they often share snippets into what their life looks like now with their bundle of joy.
