Brad Paisley is heading to the small screen.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the country superstar is set to star in and executive produce a new comedy, Fish Out of Water. The show has landed at Amazon after a bidding war that reportedly saw multiple outlets vying for the half-hour comedy.
THR describes the show as “a Larry Sanders take on celebrity vanity projects and a behind-the-scenes look at country music star Paisley’s struggle to keep a simple little fishing show from turning into his own personal Frye Festival.”
When word got out, Paisley took to Twitter to share the news, writing, “Some fun things brewing…Oh, and as far as bidding wars go, I’m a tough one. Well, right up until amazon dangled free shipping, then I caved.”
Fish Out of Water marks Paisley’s series debut, following previous stints on shows such as The Crazy Ones, According to Jim, King of the Hill and Nashville.
Will Arnett and AD Miles, who previously worked with the former CMA Entertainer of the Year on ABC’s The Gong Show, will executive produce the series alongside Paisley. Additional executive producers include Paisley’s manager, Bill Simmons, as well as Peter Principato, Marc Forman and Kendal Marcy.
The series received a script commitment from Amazon, however, there’s no word on a premiere date just yet.
