Morgan Wallen delivered the news his fans have been waiting for on Tuesday evening (June 6) when he took to Instagram to share an update regarding his vocal rest.
The “Last Night” singer first shared a photo of himself with his friend and musical hero, Eric Church to his Instagram feed.
“It’s Island Time,” he captioned the photo that showcased the artists somewhere on a boat.
Moments later, he shared a photo of himself on a boat with the text, “Also, the doc cleared me to talk and sing…we back,” written on it.
The encouraging health update comes just four weeks after Wallen revealed that he had to cancel and/or postpone several weeks of shows and appearances due to “vocal fold trauma.”
At the time, Wallen shared a video message alerting fans of the unfortunate news.
“I got some bad news from my Doctors at the Vanderbilt Voice Center yesterday. After taking ten days of vocal rest, I performed three shows last weekend in Florida and by the third one I felt terrible,” he explained in the clip. “So, I went in and got scoped yesterday and they told me I injured my vocal cords and that I have vocal fold trauma. Their advice is that I go on vocal rest for six weeks. So that’s what I’m going to do. They want me to not talk at all, but they said it’s okay if I need to for something like this.”
Doctors stressed the importance of following the strict vocal rest to Wallen. They told him had to comply with their orders otherwise, he could potentially face long-term damage.
“They told me that if I do this the right way that I’ll get back to 100% and they also said that if I don’t listen and if I keep singing that I permanently damage my voice. So for the longevity of my career this is just the choice I had to make,” he explained. “I hate it, but I love you guys and I appreciate all the support that you always give me and I’ll see you soon and I’ll be back better than ever. God bless you.”
Morgan Wallen will resume his One Night At A Time World Tour in late June when he returns to the stage at Chicago’s iconic Wrigley Field for back-to-back nights at the home to the Chicago Cubs.
On Thursday, June 22, Wallen will be joined by HARDY, ERNEST, and Bailey Zimmerman, and on Friday, June 23, Parker McCollum, ERNEST, and Bailey Zimmerman.
During his time off, Wallen spent quite a bit of time outdoors. According to Instagram, he spent time outside hunting and fishing.
Recently, he spent some time on the lake with his friend and “Broadway Girls” collaborator, Lil Durk. He documented their time fishing together on Instagram and joked, “Durk done pulled up and taught me how to fish.”
The East Tennessee native rang in his birthday in mid-May by spending some quality time with his 2-year-old son, Indigo “Indie” Wilder.
The father/son duo was all smiles as they posed for photos while cruising around in a UTV.
“Celebrating 30 w my dawg,” Wallen captioned the sweet snapshots.
Artists like Jason Aldean, Jake Owen, Travis Denning, and more took to the comments section to wish him a happy birthday.
