BREAKING: Reba McEntire Extends Her Run on ‘The Voice,’ Joined by Dan + Shay As First-Ever Coaching Duo
The official 2024 coaching lineup for “The Voice” has been revealed.

Dan + Shay have been tapped to join the coaching panel for Season 25 of NBC’s The Voice alongside John Legend, Chance the Rapper, and Reba McEntire.
The NBC singing competition took to Twitter to share the news as they wrote, “we have your official 2024 #TheVoice Coach lineup!!!!! @reba@johnlegend @chancetherapper and…@DanAndShay ✌️✌️ who guessed it?????”
The country music duo will be stepping into “The Double Chair,” a brand-new element that was announced via social media on Wednesday, June 21. The graphic simply featured an image of the new chairs with the caption, “incoming: 2024 Coaches !!! double chair!!! epic lineup!!! stay tuned!!!”
The double chair has previously been incorporated on versions of the singing competition show that are broadcasted from other countries, however this will be a first for the U.S. version of The Voice.
To clarify, this news will not affect the upcoming season of The Voice, which is set to air in the fall. It has already been announced that the next lineup of coaches will include returning members, Gwen Stefani, Niall Horan, and John Legend as well as the newest addition, Reba McEntire.
Along with the news that Dan + Shay will be joining The Voice, it was also revealed that McEntire will extend her run with the show for back-to-back seasons.
Reba was tapped to serve as Blake Shelton’s replacement following his recent departure from the show. Shelton appeared on The Voice for a total of 23 Seasons and holds the title of the longest and winningest coach in the history of the show with nine wins.
In October of 2022, the “No Body” singer announced that he would be stepping down from the show after serving the longest run for 23 seasons.
“I’ve been wrestling with this for a while and I’ve decided that it’s time for me to step away from The Voice after next season,” Shelton began in his statement.
“This show has changed my life in every way for the better and it will always feel like home to me,” he continued. “It’s been a hell of a ride over these 12 years of chair turns and I want to thank everyone at The Voice from NBC, every producer, the writers, musicians, crew and catering people, you are the best. It takes a lot of work, passion, and adult beverages (Ha!) to pull off a live show twice a week.”
Before it was revealed that McEntire would be stepping up to fill his spot, McEntire admitted to ET’s Online Country that it would be incredibly difficult to replace Shelton after the standards he has set for his fellow coaches.
“Who could fill Blake’s shoes?” she questioned, before adding, “To fill Blake’s chair? Wow. That’s gonna be tough. He did a great job, and kudos to him.”
However, on Monday (May 15), the news finally came to light when NBC announced that the country music icon will be joining the show.
McEntire may be joining as the newest team member, but she is no stranger to the show. She was originally supposed to be cast in the inaugural season of the Emmy Award-winning musical competition series, but ended up turning down the opportunity before it first debuted in 2011.
“The first time I ever heard of The Voice, I saw the tape from Holland’s [version of the show],” she told the outlet. “They asked me to do it, and I turned it down.”
While she didn’t serve as a coach at the time, the “Does He Love You” singer briefly served as Shelton’s battle round advisor. Most recently, she appeared on the latest season of the show, when she served as a Mega Mentor.
Shelton officially closed out his time on The Voice and said his goodbyes during the finale of Season 23, which aired Tuesday, May 23 on NBC.
Taking to social media to commemorate his journey on the show, he dubbed his exit “bittersweet” as he has been a part of the competition since its inaugural season in 2011.
“Can’t believe it’s been 23 seasons of @nbcthevoice… and especially can’t believe today is my final episode. It’s bittersweet. When we signed up for season 1, I don’t think any of us knew what this was going to be… These past 12 years I have made lifelong friends and memories,” Shelton wrote in the caption.
He went on to praise all the rising contestants that have been taken under his wing throughout the past 23 Seasons. This includes Bryce Leatherwood, Cam Anthony, Jermaine Paul, Cassadee Pope, Danielle Bradbery, Craig Wayne Boyd, Sundance Head and Chloe Kohanski.
Season 24 is set to premiere this fall and will air on Mondays (8/7c) and Tuesdays (9/8c). The show will also stream the next day on Peacock.
