Breland and Mickey Guyton gave a powerful performance of his single “Cross Country” during 2021 CMT Music Awards on Wednesday, June 9.

The rising star gushed over Guyton ahead of his performance saying that she is one of his favorite artists before explaining, “‘Cross Country’ is a special song for me because it’s the first song that I’ve ever put out that really just tells my story straight up and it’s also kind of the name that i’ve given to the sub-genre of country music that I make. It’s kind of an intersection of country, pop, R&B, hip-hop and gospel.”

Co-hosted by superstars Kelsea Ballerini and Kane Brown, the 2021 CMT Music Awards aired on Wednesday, June 9 and featured performances from Ballerini with Paul Klein from LANY and Brown with Chris Young.
