Brooks & Dunn’s Ronnie Dunn Sidelined for 8 Weeks After Skiing Accident

Brooks & Dunn’s Ronnie Dunn revealed that he recently suffered a leg injury while skiing.

The 72 year old made light of the injury on social media and revealed that he has been sidelined for eight weeks.  

“Changing these lyrics from ‘I don’t dance with anybody but you’ to ‘I probably shouldn’t ski anymore at 72’….? 8 week vacation!” he shared, referencing his solo song, “I Don’t Dance.” This was shared alongside a photo of his bandaged up leg.

In the photo, he appeared to be in the back of a vehicle, possibly heading home from a doctor’s appointment. He traded his signature cowboy boots for sneakers due to his condition. 

Fans were quick to flock to the comments section to offer the Country Music Hall of Famer words of encouragement. 

“Oh no Ronnie! Praying for a speedy recovery,” one fan wrote, while another shared, “Oh no! We like to think we are still young and can do anything! Getting older sucks but you look damn good cowboy!!! Hope you feel better soon!” 

Another Instagram user quoted Toby Keith, telling Dunn, “Don’t let the old man in, Ronnie!”

Dunn’s leg injury comes on the heels of Brooks & Dunn’s big night at the 58th Annual CMA Awards, where they reclaimed the Vocal Duo of the Year trophy for the first time since 2006. This marked their 15th win in the category and tied them for the most CMA Award wins ever with a total of 19 career trophies. 

During the show, Brooks & Dunn joined forces with Jelly Roll for a powerful performance of “Believe.” This was, without a doubt, one of the most memorable moments of the CMA Awards. 

This new version of “Believe” is featured on Brooks & Dunn’s REBOOT 2 project, which was released just days before the 2024 CMA Awards. The album is a follow-up to 2019’s REBOOT, maintaining a similar format while introducing a fresh lineup of artists, including Lainey Wilson, Morgan Wallen, Riley Green, Megan Moroney, HARDY, ERNEST, Corey Kent, and more.

The album features reimagined versions of some of the duo’s biggest songs such as “Play Something Country,” “Neon Moon,” “Brand New Man,” “Hillbilly Deluxe,” “Boot Scootin’ Boogie,” the beloved “Only In America,” as well as many others. 

Brooks & Dunn allowed the artists to have complete creative freedom on the album. The only guideline given was to completely reimagine the song to match their unique taste and style.

“The premise of the project was ‘No rules.’ For this one, we purposely loosened the screws and turned ‘em loose to do whatever they wanted,” Dunn previously explained. “We actually went way off the rails, in a good way.” 

“This project is a lot more out of bounds,” Brooks added. “Artists were going, ‘Would it be okay if we did this?’ It was like ‘Yeah! Let’s do it.’ We dealt with rock bands and blues bands and all kinds of genres, all over the place.”

Ronnie Dunn will need to rest up and heal his leg because Brooks & Dunn is set to return to the road for the Neon Moon Tour in early 2025. The upcoming trek features the duo alongside special guest David Lee Murphy and kicks off on March 13, 2025.
