Callista Clark has tapped Scotty McCreery to join her in delivering her stirring new heartbreak balled, “Gettin’ Old,” which is available today, August 9 via Dreamcatcher Artists.

Both of these country artists are known for their powerful songwriting and their uncanny ability to wear their hearts on their sleeves when it comes to making music. They have done that once again on the new release as they come together to illustrate the emotions one goes through when realizing they are no longer feeling fulfilled by their partner in a way that’s necessary to be able to sustain a relationship.

Describing the narrative through his eyes, McCreery shares, “It’s one of those songs where it’s a romance that you thought was going to make it that just didn’t quite…basically, you thought you were going to be getting old together, but now it’s just getting old.”

Clark has been teasing snippets of the tune through social media and putting her silky-smooth vocals on display in a way that evokes a powerful feeling in listeners, especially those who have experienced this kind of heartache.

Within the chorus, the songstress can be heard reflecting on the fact that if she and her partner really were soulmates, then they should be taking major life steps together, like buying their first home together with a front porch and getting married. Instead, the character she’s portraying is clearly getting tired of not seeing that growth and is realizing she needs to make a change.

“Kiss me good morning just like/ You’ve done it a thousand times/ Same routine that we don’t undo/ Nothing’s ever new doing all the things that soulmates do but if that’s the truth/ By now we should be getting that first house/ Front porch/ Little wrap around/ One more December down/While you’re holding me through the cold/ We Should be/ Further the down the road/ Than we are/ Trading bands of gold but we aren’t thought we’d be getting old together, but now it’s just getting old kinda getting old,” they sing.

The two artists also shot a must-see music video that was conceived, produced, and directed by award-winning filmmaker Roman White for Red Mill Productions in Nashville and will be released in the near future. For now, fans can enjoy the track through a nostalgia-laced lyric video.

“Gettin’ Old” was penned by Clark with Averie Bielski and Karen Kasowski while Joey Hyde and Frank Rogers share production credits on the song.

During a recent interview with Country Now and other outlets, McCreery explained that he got to know the “Have You Seen The Rain” singer while she served as an opening act on his UK tour a few years ago. He admitted to being “blown away” by her talent on stage as well as her songwriting abilities, so when Clark asked him to join her in delivering “Gettin’ Old,” it was an easy “yes.”

“Her voice is just ridiculous. The run she can do, I think I would fall over if I tried to do what she does with her voice. So she’s so talented and has something she wants to share with the world. So when she sent the song over, I fell in love with it and I was honored she wanted me to sing on it. I’m excited for folks to hear it. It’s a great song. She wrote a heck of a song and I’m pumped to be a part of it,” he shared.

“Scotty was my first choice for a duet partner on ‘Gettin’ Old,’” Callista said in a recent statement. “I’ve always loved his voice and how he approaches his career. He absolutely nailed this song.”

This song follows Clark’s first single for Dreamcatcher “Bless Your Heart,” as well as “Reckless” and a haunting version of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Have You Ever Seen The Rain.”

Meanwhile, McCreery is currently rising up the country charts with “Fall of Summer,” which marks the second single to come from his critically acclaimed album Rise & Fall following his sixth No. 1 hit, “Cab in a Solo.” This weekend, the North Carolina native will be hitting the stage in across Oklahoma and Davenport, IA.
