Canaan Smith is back in a BIG way.
The platinum-selling singer/songwriter is the first artist signed to the just-announced label, Round Here Records, founded by Florida Georgia Line’s Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard. The label is in partnership with AWAL, Kobalt’s recording company, and is the latest business endeavor for FGL, following the success of their publishing company, Tree Vibez Music (among other projects).
Kelley, Hubbard and Smith were longtime friends and now they’re business partners in publishing and recording.
“We are always pushing ourselves to be creative, elevate our business ventures, and continue to pay it forward,” Kelley shared in a statement. “We’ve seen first-hand Canaan’s pure talent both in the writing room and out on the road. Tyler and I couldn’t be more proud to have him lead off Round Here Records. Let’s go!”
Smith returns with a brand new song called “Beer Drinkin’ Weather,” which was co-written by Smith with Kelley and Hubbard as well as Tree Vibez Music writer Corey Crowder. The track is an upbeat anthem all about letting loose and was co-produced by Smith, Kelley and Hubbard.
“I always love a drinkin’ song, and this one here is a double-fister!” Smith said. “I really like how we approached it musically – just a live band in a room with a whole lotta energy. I hope people crank this song way up and it makes ‘em thirsty for a good time.”
Fans can catch Canaan Smith on Florida Georgia Line’s Can’t Say I Ain’t Country Tour, which also features Dan + Shay, Morgan Wallen and HARDY. His newly expanded role on the tour will feature Smith with a full band, rather than an acoustic performance.
