The countdown to the 57th Annual CMA Awards is on. With just seven days until “Country Music’s Biggest Night,” the anticipation for the show is building, and many may be left wondering what to wear to the CMA Awards. Don’t fret – we’re here to help.
Is There A Dress Code For The CMA Awards?
The 2023 CMA Awards will take place at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on Wednesday, November 8. According to the Country Music Association (CMA), those attending the CMA Awards are encouraged to wear black tie or formal attire. This is in an effort to honor the tradition of “Country Music’s Biggest Night.”
Fortunately, for men, this is simple: a tux and suit will qualify as black tie or formal attire. It’s also easy to add a touch of country flair by pairing a suit with stylish cowboy boots, a bolo tie, or an intricate belt buckle. For women, however, finding options to wear to an event like the CMA Awards can be quite overwhelming. Striking a fine balance between formal sophistication, fashionable attire, and personal comfort is key.
One avenue to take is renting a gown from The Showroom Nashville or Rent The Runway. For those looking to purchase something to wear, here are some ideas.
What Do You Wear To An Awards Show?

This metallic maxi from Pink Lily is perfect for those hoping to opt for a more modest look at the CMA Awards. It features a v-neckline in a wrap style with extended bishop sleeves, a side slit, and a floor-length maxi design.

When attending a formal event, you can never go wrong with black. This black short-sleeve maxi would be perfect for the CMA Awards and could easily be worn time and time again.

Sequins are always in style in Nashville. This striped sequin mini would be a great option for the CMA Awards. It features a crew neckline with long balloon-style sleeves. It’s mini length, but still formal enough to wear to the show.

This midi dress features a head-turning twist detail and slit. The beautiful wine color is ideal for the fall season, making this look a no-brainer.

Another fashionable option for the CMA Awards is a jumpsuit. Think pink sequin number looks like something Dolly Parton would wear, which is an immediate “yes!” in our fashion book.
Don’t forget to abide by Bridgestone Arena’s bag policy. According to the venue’s official website, bags that measure larger than 12”x12”x6” are prohibited and are NOT allowed into the arena. It’s always a safe bet to carry a small, clear bag.

Who Is Performing At The CMA Awards 2023?
Those who are lucky enough to score tickets to the 2023 CMA Awards will witness performances from Morgan Wallen, HARDY, Post Malone, Luke Bryan, Jelly Roll, K. Michelle, Little Big Town, Megan Moroney, Old Dominion, Carly Pearce, Tanya Tucker, Kelsea Ballerini, Kenny Chesney, Dan + Shay, Jordan Davis, Alan Jackson, Cody Johnson, Mac McAnally, Ashley McBryde, The War And Treaty, Zac Brown Band and more.
If you aren’t in Nashville, you can still tune in as the CMA Awards will air on ABC. Co-hosted by country superstar Luke Bryan and National Football League Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning, the 57th Annual CMA Awards will air live from Nashville on Wednesday, November 8 at 8/7c on ABC. The show will be available to watch on Hulu the following day.
