Dan + Shay won big at the 2019 American Music Awards on Sunday (Nov. 24). The duo celebrated wins in the Favorite Country Duo or Group category as well the category for Favorite Country Song for their hit single “Speechless.”
Dan Smyers accepted the American Music Award for Favorite Country Song for “Speechless” graciously tell the audience, “This award means so much to us, and our co-writers Jordan Reynolds and Laura Veltz.”
“We’re so proud to be a part of the country music community, thank you to country radio for playing our songs, to Nashville for supporting us and helping us make our dreams come true and you guys most importantly,” Smyers continued. “Each and every one of you, the fans, we couldn’t do this without you, thank you to our fans for having our back since day one, our wives who are watching back home, Abby and Hannah, we love y’all so much.”
Smyers then handed the trophy to Mooney, who said, “I want to give a shoutout to Dan, one of the most talented people on earth, thank you for doing this with me, thank you to the fans my wife back home and my little boy asher. I love guys, thank you so much!”
The hitmaking duo also won Favorite Country Duo earlier in the show.
