Dan + Shay Showcase Their Impressive Vocals With Performance Of ‘I Should Probably Go To Bed’ At The 2020 ACM Awards

Dan + Shay wowed viewers with their soaring new single “I Should Probably Go To Bed,” live from the Ryman Auditorium on the 55th ACM Awards.

“What to expect from our performance is gonna be amazing, it’s gonna be so good.” Shay Mooney said ahead of their performance. “No, I hope that’s it’s gonna be amazing and so good. This is a very hard song to sing, very nerve-wracking, we haven’t done this a lot really since quarantine happened. This song in particular is a very difficult song to sing and play on piano, so we got a lot of pressure on us but we’re really excited you know this is gonna be kind of our first time being able to perform this song on tv and it’s nerve-wracking but it’s also very exciting cause we haven’t got to do this in a long time.”

Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney co-wrote the song alongside Sean Douglas and Jason Evigan. “I Should Probably Go To Bed” was produced entirely by the duo’s own Smyers and every instrument was performed and recorded by Smyers at his home studio in Nashville, TN and is expected to appear on the duo’s forthcoming fourth studio album.

Mooney received his very first individual nomination as a songwriter for “10,000 Hours” in the Song of the Year category. Plus, Dan Smyers received two individual nominations as a songwriter in the Song of the Year category and as a producer in the Music Event of the Year category for “10,000 Hours.”

The 55th Academy of Country Music Awards also featured performances from Jimmie Allen, Gabby Barrett, Kelsea Ballerini, Kane Brown, Luke Bryan, Luke Combs, Eric Church, Florida Georgia Line, Riley Green, Mickey Guyton, Miranda Lambert, Tim McGraw, Maren Morris, Old Dominion, Thomas Rhett featuring Jon Pardi, Blake Shelton with Gwen Stefani, Taylor Swift, Tenille Townes, Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban with P!nk, Morgan Wallen and Trisha Yearwood.

The 2020 ACM Awards took place in Music City for the first time ever. The three-hour show took place at three iconic venues: Grand Ole Opry House, Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium and The Bluebird Cafe.

Hosted by Keith Urban, the star-studded event aired on Wednesday, September 16 (live 8:00-11:00 PM ET/delayed PT) on CBS Television Network and streamed live and on-demand on CBS All Access.
