Darius Rucker and his wife Beth are getting a divorce after nearly 20 years of marriage.

The singer made the announcement via social media on Saturday (July 11) in a statement to his fans.

“Beth and I would like to share that after much reflection we have made the decision to consciously uncouple,” he wrote. “We remain close friends and parenting partners and continue to be each other’s biggest cheerleaders. Our priority will always be our beautiful family. We have so much love in our hearts for each other and will continue to encourage growth and expansion in one other. Please be kind as we take on this journey, and we thank you for your love and support always.”

Darius and Beth met in 1998 while she was working at VH1 in New York. Darius tried to convince Beth to date him for several months and she finally said yes.

“I don’t know what it was about her. I mean, it was everything about her,” Rucker previously shared of his bride. “I told her I was going to marry her on our first date.”

The couple wed on December 9, 2000. They have two children together, Daniella (born in 2001) and Jack (born in 2005).
