Darius Rucker will soon receive a star on both the Hollywood Walk of Fame and the Music City Walk of Fame.
Music City Walk of Fame
The GRAMMY-winning Grand Ole Opry member is among the just-announced group of inductees for the Music City Walk of Fame, which also includes Don McLean of “American Pie” fame; rock and roll guitarist Duane Eddy; and former record-label executive Joe Galante.
The Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp announced the news on Wednesday morning.
“This exceptional inductee class for the Music City Walk of Fame embody iconic moments in the history of music – from Darius Rucker’s rendition of “Wagon Wheel” to Don McLean’s classic “American Pie” to the distinctive twang of Duane Eddy’s guitar,” Ken Levitan, Chairman of the NCVC Board of Directors and Founder and Co-President of Vector Management, shared in a statement. “Nashville’s music industry would not be the dominant force it is today without Joe Galante, who solidified Country as a leading genre in the record industry and who continues to nurture the next generation of music leaders through tech startups and entrepreneur programs.”
Rucker and the rest of the newly announced honorees will officially be inducted on October 4, 2023.
The renowned professional wrestler Ric Flair will be present to formally induct Rucker.
Hollywood Walk of Fame
In 2024, Rucker will receive his star on the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame in the category of Recording alongside Glen Ballard, Toni Braxton, Def Leppard, Charles Fox, Sammy Hagar, Brandy Norwood, Darius Rucker, Gwen Stefani, and Andre ‘Dr. Dre’ Young.
The Hollywood Walk of Fame honorees were chosen from a pool that included hundreds of nominations during a committee meeting on June 16, 2023, and their choices were officially approved by the Hollywood Chamber’s Board of Directors on June 21, 2023.
Steve Nissen, the President and CEO of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, together with Ellen K, the Chair of the Walk of Fame Selection Panel and a radio personality, revealed the latest honorees on the website www.walkoffame.com.
A date for Rucker’s Hollywood Walk of Fame induction has yet to be announced.
New Album Arriving Soon
The news comes after Darius Rucker shared details of his first solo album in six years, Carolyn’s Boy, which will arrive on October 6.
The 14-track project, which will serve as a tribute to his late mother Carolyn, will feature his current single, “Fires Don’t Start Themselves,” as well as the previously released tunes “Beers And Sunshine,” “Ol’ Church Hymn (feat. Chapel Hart),” “Same Beer Different Problem,” “Have A Good Time,” and more.
“I wanted to name the record Carolyn’s Boy because Mom never got to see any of my success,” Rucker explained during a previous TODAY interview. “She died before any of this happened, so it’s just another homage to the greatest woman I’ve ever known.”
When questioned about the timing of the nod to his mom, Rucker looked back on his journey and admitted, “Years ago, I wasn’t quite certain about my place in Country music, and I was in search of it. But now, I’ve discovered it, and I believe it’s time to acknowledge that achievement.”
Carolyn’s Boy features 11 tracks co-written by Rucker as well as songs written by some of Nashville’s most sought after songwriters such as Josh Osborne, Ross Copperman, Ben Hayslip, Michael Hardy (HARDY), and more. Ed Sheeran also contributed to the project. See below for the album’s complete track list.

Darius Rucker is currently in the midst of his Starting Fires Tour, which kicked off on June 15 at Elmwood Park Amphitheatre in Roanoke, Virginia and continues through October 14, where the trek will wrap up in Nashville, Tennessee at Ascend Amphitheater.
