Rising music sensation, Demps, has added another tune to her growing catalog with the release of “Who’s Who.” The songstress revealed she instantly felt a connection to this song and its narrative, which centers around the struggles that come with dating and trying to find your person.

“Who’s Who” was written by Kelsea Ballerini, Nicolle Galyon and Jimmy Robbins, the same group of writers who penned her first-ever release, “Bitch On Wine.” Even though she fell in love with the relatable narrative and had the vocals laid down, Demps says she wasn’t sure she would get to cut this song. Luckily, it all ended up working out and she couldn’t be more excited to finally get to share what she has been holding onto for months now.

“Guys, when I first heard this song, the way I dropped to my knees because I felt like this song was written from me and it was just sitting there waiting for me to sing it. And the fact that it is finally here, I’ve been keeping this song in my memory, singing it alone for months now. So the fact that I get to share it with you guys, and so many people can relate to it to find out who’s their who, it means the world to me,” Demps shared before adding, “Can’t thank Jimmy Robbins, Nicolle and Kelsea Ballerini for letting me have this song.”

She went on to recall the incredible joy she felt after finally getting the “okay” to record the track. This allowed her to channel her real-life experiences and emotions from her personal struggles into the soulful, mid-tempo melody.

“As a single mother who’s just had a crappy dating history, I felt like I can sing this song with so much emotion for people to relate to,” she explains.

Following a stunning display of guitar strums, Demps’ silky vocals enter with a purpose. She starts to reveal the niche things she knows about this love interest, like the fact that he’s a fan of John Mayer and that he grew up by the ocean. However, she emphasizes the desire to get to know this person on a deeper level and proceeds to ask some of her burning questions throughout the chorus.

She eventually realizes that despite her efforts to understand his life and interests, he isn’t reciprocating in the same way, causing her to question where she stands with him.

“So who’s your rock/ Who’s your villain/ Who’s your soft place to land/ Who’s your one that got away/ Who’s your one that gave a damn/ Who’s your never should’ve/ Put their name in that tattoo/ Who’s the love of your life/ Who am I/ Who’s who/ Who’s who,” Demps sings as she brings vibrancy on the already addicting chorus.

Kelsea Ballerini Gives Her Stamp Of Approval

Fans have been loving the teasers of the track that have been shared by Demps, whose real name is Katie Dempsey, across social media, but they aren’t the only ones who feel that this song landed with the perfect vocalist.

One of the songwriters, Kelsea Ballerini also noted, “I’ve always faaaking loved this song from the second it was written. I’m so happy she found a home with you, you sound like a dream and like it’s always meant to be yours.”

In response to the kind words, Demps shared, “For Kelsea Ballerini to comment and recognize like ‘Demps, you sound like an angel,’ amazing feedback from the one and only queen, Kelsea, who wrote this song,”

Today’s release of “Who’s Who” was paired with an accompanying music video that was directed and shot by Micah Pringle. According to Demps, the idea to bring this song to life was inspired by Miley Cyrus’ “Jaded” music video, which illustrates honesty in its rawest form through a simple, yet purposeful way.

The video begins with Demps alone in bed, having a moment of reflection over the previous night’s events with a male character played by Kaleb Winterburn of the viral TikTok group, The Montana Boyz, who slowly starts to make an appearance within the clips. Viewers see the pair having a few drinks and sharing some laughs, but the next morning Demps is faced with a wave of confusion once he’s no longer in her bed.

“My inspiration for the music video was the ‘Jaded’ music video. I wanted to be sweet, vulnerable, show that emotion raw. Sadly, I’ve had many nights going out with a man and then waking up the next morning trying to figure out like, ‘Well, are we going to be compatible together? Or was that just a waste of my time?” Demps explained. “So I literally wanted to take that vulnerable moment and put it into a cinematic setting for you guys to understand what I’ve been through with the emotional rollercoaster of just sitting in a hotel room crying after you just had the best time of your life with someone, but they gave you the runaround. I hope you guys love it as much as I do. Go roll those windows down and cry it out.”

“Who’s Who” follows Demps’ previous releases, “Bitch On Wine” and “If You Were A Country Girl.” Fans can follow her social media platforms to stay updated on new music and upcoming performances.
