A mockumentary surrounding the band Hot Country Knights is on the way.
Technology platform Quibi recently announced plans to release a 10-episode mockumentary series centered around the story of Hot Country Knights. The ‘90s influenced band was created in 2015 by Dierks Bentley, who also serves as the series’ executive producer.
The upcoming series follows Bentley (aka Douglas “Doug” Douglason) as he attempts to save his band from their poor decisions and efforts over the past 30 years. The band hopes to earn praise and acclaim with their new album, The K Is Silent, as well as their first nationwide tour. The “full Spinal Tap-like musical-comedy act”, as Variety called them, strikes fans with the perfect combination of comedy and country.
Dierks Bentley helped to write over half of the songs on the album which was best described by The Chive as a “lightning bolt of testosterone and sex appeal.”
“All the songs are divine intervention,” Douglason recently shared with Country Now. “As a songwriter, I’m kinda like Hank Williams. Somebody up there writes these songs. They’re just coming through me. I just hold the pen.”
The Hot Country Knights began as an opening act for Bentley but have clearly become a standalone sensation. Fans will have to watch this hilarious series to see if Hot Country Knights can regain their former glory and get a behind the scenes glimpse of the journey of the band.
