For 40 years, Dolly Parton dreamed of turning her famous “cup of ambition” lyric into a coffee brand, and today, that vision has officially become a reality with the nationwide launch of Cup of Ambition, created in partnership with family-owned Community Coffee.
The brand takes its name from the opening line of Parton’s iconic hit “9 to 5,” in which she sings about pouring herself a “cup of ambition” to help her “come to life” for the day. Parton had a personal hand in bringing the idea to fruition as she filmed three commercials for the brand in July, prior to her death on August 25, proving that she truly put her heart and soul into her work until the day she died.
“I thought the cup of ambition would be a fantastic name for a coffee brand…I think you won’t be able to find a better cup of coffee out there and shoot, who couldn’t use some more ambition,” she explained in the video.

The commercial unveiled alongside the launch features Parton dressed in a dazzling pink ensemble as she pours herself a cup of Cup of Ambition into her newly released pink coffee mug, complete with a unique butterfly-shaped handle. Fueled by a few sips of her cup of Joe, Parton gets to work on her pink rhinestone guitar and gets ready to take on the day.
In addition to featuring the late icon herself, the commercial also brings an animated version of Dolly to life, appearing when she catches her reflection in the mirror. In a playful twist at the end, the animated Dolly reaches right out of the mirror to sneak a sip of coffee for herself.
The animation was illustrated by Katie Reed of She Got Good & Monica Woodward of Happy Web Co, animated by Joel Robertson of Fourthcrown, directed by TK McKamy, produced by Olly Rowland of NOZ Entertainment, colored by Rodney Williams of Big Finish and video edited by Adam Davis of CTK Enterprises.
The coffee line includes Light, Medium and Dark Roasts, all developed alongside the fifth-generation family owners of Community Coffee. Whether it’s fueling an early morning or a late night, Dolly’s Cup of Ambition is meant to be a little extra motivation for anyone chasing a dream.
Cup of Ambition first arrived at Dolly’s Tennessean Travel Stop, which opened back in June. Dolly, who was present for the celebration at the time, spoke of the new project sharing, “This is just one of those dreams that’s taken a little longer than I thought it might, but we’ve got it and it’s working. I can’t wait for you to try it. But I couldn’t be more happy with it. Community Coffee has been a fantastic partner for me and I like the way they think.”
Fans can now get their hands on the collection as the ground coffee is available for nationwide shipping on CupOfAmbition.com, CommunityCoffee.com, TikTok Shop and other major retailers online, including Amazon.com and Walmart.com. It is also available for pre-order in K-Cup® pods.

Dolly’s Cup of Ambition also helps support the Imagination Library, which works to encourage a love of reading among children from birth through age five. As part of the partnership, Community Coffee will serve as the anchor funding partner for Lafayette Parish, furthering its commitment to early childhood literacy in its home state of Louisiana. Coffee lovers can also contribute to the cause by making an optional donation at checkout when purchasing through CupofAmbition.com.
To celebrate the launch, Dolly’s Cup of Ambition and Community Coffee are taking the brand on the road with the special Cup of Ambition Sip & Sample Tour.
