Dolly Parton’s Dollywood was named the number one theme park in the U.S. and the number eight theme park in the world by Trip Advisor on Tuesday (Jun. 14), according to a press release.
Parton’s theme park received the dual honor during the 2022 Travelers’ Choice Best of the Best Awards, the release also indicated. Dollywood claimed the top spot among the Travelers’ Choice Top 25 Amusement Parks in the United States and the number eight spot among the Traveler’s Choice Top 25 Amusement Parks Worldwide.
The theme park received the honor based on Trip Advisor reviews and ratings submitted from May 1, 2021 to April 30, 2022.
Parton reacted to the honor her theme park received, saying, she was “proud” of all the work that goes into making Dollywood a family friendly destination.
“I’m so proud of the work my people do to make Dollywood such a great place for families,” the “Run Rose Run” singer told Trip Advisor. “When I started dreaming up Dollywood all those years ago, I hoped it would be somewhere folks were excited to come visit and enjoy time together. To hear that they are leaving so many positive comments about their time here really shows what we’re doing is working. In the current world, I want Dollywood to be a place where the light shines every day.”
Eugene Naughton, president of the Dollywood Company reacted similarly.
“This award is a little bit different because there is no voting factored into these rankings. The Trip Advisor rankings come from actual reviews left by guests about their time here with us at Dollywood. It is extremely gratifying to see this recognition for the effort our hosts give to ensure our guests have an unforgettable time while they are here,” he explained via the same press release.
In addition to the awards from Trip Advisor, Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort and Spa was named the number one Amusement Park Hotel in the country by USA Today during the 10 Best Reader’s Choice Awards. This is the third time the amusement park received the honor since 2018, the outlet indicated.
Dollywood kicked off its 37th season back in April, according to the Washington Post.
Back in May, NBC announced Dolly Parton’s Magic Mountain Christmas, a musical that will offer viewers a behind-the-scenes look at making a TV special set at Parton’s well-known theme park.
Aside from Dollywood, Parton is working with author James Patterson, Sony Pictures, and Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine to adapt she and Patterson’s novel Run, Rose, Run into a film.
