Drake White and his wife, Alex, are grieving the heartbreaking loss of their baby girl, Della Elizabeth White. The couple shared the devastating news on Sunday through Instagram, revealing that their daughter was born on August 31 at 29 weeks and sadly passed away shortly after her birth.

In a joint post, Drake and Alex shared, “On Sunday, August 31st our precious daughter, Della Elizabeth White, went peacefully to be with Jesus. We are so thankful for the holy moments God gave us with her. The Lord has been so near and close to us during this difficult time. He has held us up and sustained us through it all. We are heartbroken and soul tired, but we know we will get through this difficult time with the strength, peace, and joy that only our Heavenly Father can provide. May Della be held in the arms of Jesus until we see her again someday.”

They went on to quote Psalm 34:18: “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”

And Psalm 31:10, 14-15: I am dying from my grief; my years are shortened by sadness. Misery has drained my strength; I am wasting away from within. But I am trusting you, O Lord, saying, “You are my God!” My future is in your hands.”

In May, the couple shared the news of Alex’s pregnancy exclusively with People, revealing that she conceived their daughter through IVF and was due in November. Drake and Alex are also parents to their son, William Hawk, who was also conceived via IVF.

Following the couple’s heartbreaking announcement, friends and fellow country stars filled the comments section with messages of love and prayer.

“I am so sorry. Praying for you 3. Jesus is near the broken hearted! Cover them Jesus,” RaeLynn shared.

Lauren Alaina wrote, “My heart aches for you. Sending so much love and prayer your way.”

Little Big Town’s Karen Fairchild added, “So very sorry. My heart is breaking for you both. Sending you so much love.”

Drake White and Alex have endured some tough times in recent years. White suffered a stroke while performing in 2019, and in the fall of 2020, Alex was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and a rare neurological disorder, chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP).

After his stroke, Drake was told he might never perform again, but he defied the odds and returned to the stage. Most recently, he shared the stage with Riley Green, and in November he will headline, host, and curate his second “Benefit for the Brain” concert at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium.
