ERNEST is opening up about his mental and physical health nearly two weeks after announcing he would be taking time away from the road to focus on himself. The country singer shared an honest update with fans, thanking them for the support he’s received during his time away and admitting that he is still trying to find his way.

“Just checking in to say thank you for all the love and support …. Bottom line is I was LOST… i recon I still am … but the search is on…. And that’s new to me,” he wrote.

ERNEST explained that by stepping away from touring temporarily, he has been given the opportunity to reconnect with his faith. He reflected on the fact that he was feeling “a bit burnt out” on the subject of religion after growing up in the church and attending a Christian school. But by dedicating some time to himself without the distractions of the road, the “Lorelei” singer has gotten back in touch with his “relationship with God.”

“I have spent far too long relying on my own (dumbass) way and thinking I can outsmart my better judgement…. That’s not the case…. I don’t have many answers at all…. But I do know where it’s starting…. A dialogue with something greater than ME,” he shared.

The singer also emphasized how much his family and friends mean to him, saying they “deserve me at my best” and that he deserves that for himself, too. He closed out his statement by letting fans know that it won’t be too long before he is back on stage sharing his music with the world.

ERNEST continued, “I can’t define it and don’t know if anyone really can… I just know that I have a beautiful life, family and friends that deserve me at my best. I deserve that for me too…. I’m not preaching by any means…. But I just wanted to let yall know I’m taking this time to dig and discover. I love yall… and I love country music… Il be back to both soon! 🩵”

Being so vulnerable online prompted both fans and fellow singer/songwriters to share their support through uplifting messages in the comment section, making sure ERNEST knows he is not alone on this journey.

Brandon Lake wrote, “Beautiful man. Way to do the hard thing but that actually leads to life and life more abundant. You got some beautiful days ahead of you especially because you’re putting in the work. Cheering you on bro.”

Conner Smith added, “Love this 🤍. Nashvilles got your back” while Mitchell Tenpenny said, “Amen Brother we all need him. It’s a new day” and Jake Owen wrote, “Hell yeah… proud of you. We all are. Here for ya.”

His initial announcement was shared to his Instagram story on Friday, August 28, when he revealed that that the demands of life on the road have started to take a toll on him.

He wrote, “Heyy’all. The road has been dragging me down in a bad way. From mental to physical health. I am going away for a couple of weeks to get myself and my priorities back in order.”

Taking this time off meant that ERNEST would be stepping away from his supporting role on Ella Langley’s The Dandelion Tour. He had been scheduled to perform alongside her through September 12. ERNEST made sure to thank the “Choosin’ Texas” singer for having him out on tour and wished her the best as she continues her trek.

“I want to thank Ella for having me out on tour and wishing her the BEST in Auburn tonight and the rest of the tour.”
