Jake Hoot shines a light on one of the sweetest love stories in his new lyric video for “Nadine” premiering exclusively for Country Now readers.
In this heartwarming clip, a young couple is shown living out their blissful romance in the countryside. The two can be seen romantically planting kisses on each other’s lips, slow dancing with each other in an unfurnished room, and walking arm-in-arm in the outdoors. Vintage-styled photographs showcasing the lives of a real-life couple growing old together over the years are also captured in select scenes of the clip, as Hoot sings of two people falling in love and then exchanging vows for the very first time.
“So they went down to the preacher’s house to change her name / As they read their vows this is what he said,” Hoot passionately sings with his genuine set of vocals while taking listeners into the song’s touching chorus. “Nadine won’t you take my hand / Come with me and let’s go dance / Life’s too short not to have a little fun / On this trip around the sun.”
Hoot previously revealed the inspiration behind the track, saying that he came up with the idea for “Nadine” following a trip to Arizona, where he met the real-life Nadine. During his travels, he says Nadine shared her story of a romance she had with a man named Hack.
“‘Nadine” is a song about a timeless love story, one that has passed the test of time and has been an example to many generations,” Hoot told Country Now via an email provided by his publicist. “I met Miss Nadine on a recent trip to Arizona and was so taken back by her and her love story with Hack. After leaving her home, I knew I had to write something about it.”
“When I originally wrote the song, I had no intention of anyone hearing the song but Miss Nadine, and her family,” the Season 17 winner of NBC’s The Voice continued. “However, now, after seeing how so many people have been touched and impacted by her story, I could not be more excited to release the music video so that the world can see a true love story unfold.”
