Exclusive Premiere: Levi Hummon And Cassadee Pope Debut Stripped-Down Performance Video For ‘RSVP’

Levi Hummon and Cassadee Pope’s performance video for their recently released duet, “RSVP” showcases one of the most difficult stages of heartbreak – moving on. 

While celebrating the release of their new duet with family and friends, Hummon and Pope decided to come together to sing “RSVP” live for those in the room. Luckily, they filmed this acoustic performance and decided to release it to their fans.

The video first gives a look into the studio which was turned into an intimate venue for the night. Then, the artists take the stage with only a guitarist and their smooth vocals. At the end of the performance, the duet partners offer each other a high five as they take in applause and positive cheers from the audience.

“We just so happen to perform it at a studio where we thought it would be fun to capture the audio, just in case,” Hummon told Country Now. “The live version turned out so cool that I knew instantly I wanted to release it. It gives me a little bit of a throwback to the MTV unplugged Nirvana experience, and I love it.”

Written by Pope and Hummon along with Eric Arjes, “RSVP” finds past lovers battling their inner emotions as a result of a party that turned out to be a good time for almost everybody. Hummon uses his impressive vocals to reflect on the rejected party invite from a past lover while Pope embraces her opposing role as she finds herself also grappling with the reality of having to get over this chapter of her life.

Pope added, “Levi and I wanted to write a song that illustrated the very common experience of two people whose timing is never right. I was excited to hear he was up for keeping this acoustic and slightly more pop-leaning to give the song more possibilities. It feels cinematic to me.”

This intimate performance-style video follows the official music video for “RSVP,” which starts off with Levi’s point of view, as he sits in the aftermath of a crowded party that has left him with the remains of shiny décor, empty cups, and his own grueling thoughts. Then, the story flips to Pope, who struggles with the decision to stay home or go to the party and be forced to face her past relationship. Viewers are drawn in with the powerful and relatable emotions of Hummon and the Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter that are portrayed through the colorful visuals. 

“I’m so proud of the song Levi, Eric and I were able to create. It was important to us to really illustrate that ‘will they, won’t they’ scenario that so many of us have gone through,” Pope said. “We kept Ross and Rachel in our minds the whole process and I think we captured that visual!”

“Champagne’s all gone / Carpets full of confetti / The cops came and we rocked on / I was the life of the party / But I don’t feel that cool / Everyone showed up but you,” they sing in the chorus.

When it came time to get into the studio to write together, Levi Hummon and Cassadee Pope accomplished exactly what the “Good Riddance” singer was hoping to do with their duet.

“I have been a fan of Cassadee since her ‘Hey Monday’ days. I had our write circled in my calendar for months, and even though we had a few reschedules, the day the writing session took place with my producer, I knew I wanted to write a duet. It’s not often that you come out of a room having accomplished the exact goal of the write, but we did, and both Cassadee and I knew how special the song was,” Hummon expressed honestly.

Since its release, the song has earned rapid success, reaching nearly 100K streams in less than a week. “RSVP” follows Hummon’s previous fan favorites including “Wedding Dress,” “Stupid” and his duet with Walker Hayes, “Paying For It.”

Cassadee Pope wrapped up her THRIVE Tour 2022 earlier this year and is next slated to perform in Nashville on November 26. Levi Hummon recently announced that on January 18, he will be playing a hometown show in Nashville featuring up and coming artists, Kyle Clark and Darby.
