Gabby Barrett and Cade Foehner’s Love Story

Gabby Barrett and Cade Foehner met in 2018 during their time on season 16 of American Idol.

The two were immediately intrigued by each other, and Barrett shared with PopCulture how she made the first move.

“I had to get to know him first,” she admitted. “So the thing was, I saw him originally. He has a really cool look, my husband … He has lots of hair, just [a] super-cool rocker dude, and I wanted to make a video with him of us singing together. And so I initiated it.”

Although neither contestant won the season, the two gained something much greater while on their journey on American Idol: a life partner. 

Foehner proposed in March of 2019. Following a short engagement, the pair tied the knot on October 5, 2019 during a small wedding in Garrison, Texas.

“We thought, ‘What’s the point in waiting years and years if we already know we’re going to be committed to each other forever?’ So may forever start now,” Barrett explained to People. “It is a blessing to find a husband or wife in this life, marriage is a profound and special thing, and we are so excited to finally be husband and wife.”

The two never took the concept of marriage lightly, as Gabby shared with People before the wedding that, “We’re both excited to make such a serious and holy commitment before the Lord, with our family and friends there to help us celebrate. Becoming one family has been the thing we’ve looked forward to the most.”

Not only does their marriage bring happiness to the couple, it also produces great music for fans.

“He is my biggest blessing over everything,” Barrett told PopCulture. “So, it’s nice to go home when you’re busy and just know that you’re going home back to somebody that you love a lot … We have written some songs together, and so you never know. We might be the next Tim and Faith someday. We’ll see.”

Starting a family has always been in Barrett and Foehner’s plan, and they began to take this next step in early 2020. 

“It [conception] happened pretty quickly,” Foehner revealed to People. “We were expecting it to take a little while, and it seemed like the first try that it happened, so we were just so excited. We were blown away that it worked so quickly.”

After learning they were pregnant in May of 2020, and eventually confirming the baby was a girl, Foehner joked, “I get to have two Gabbys! Ones not enough.”

Barrett gave birth to the couple’s daughter Baylah May Foehner on January 18, 2021.

The pair is absolutely ecstatic about starting their new family, and shared with People, “[We’re going to] create a culture of Jesus Christ around our kids and show how we are to live in accordance with his lordship over the Earth.”

Since Baylah May’s arrival, Gabby and Cade returned to the road with their daughter in tow. Fans can catch Barrett, with Foehner by her side, on the road now.
