CMT recently revealed its Next Women of Country class of 2020 with a star-studded event at the CMA Theater at the Country Music Hall of Fame. Co-hosted by Leslie Fram, SVP, Music Strategy & Talent, CMT, and country superstar Martina McBride, the event introduced the 11 artists joining the respected Next Women of Country roster. The artists joining the franchise are Abbey Cone, Avenue Beat, Caylee Hammack, Gabby Barrett. Hailey Whitters, Kylie Morgan, Madison Kozak, Renee Blair, Sycamore, Tiera and Walker County.
During the celebration, each artist performed in the writer’s round, playing one song acoustically onstage. With the newly-announced 2020 class, a total of 75 female acts have joined the Next Women of COuntry program since it began in 2013.
Additionally, Brandy Clark and Tracy Gershon presented the 2019 CMT Next Women of Country “Impact Award” to Brandi Carlile for her accomplishments in impacting “songwriting, recording, radio airplay, record sales, streams, media impressions, awards and touring in country music over the past year.”
CMT also announced that Tanya Tucker will be headlining the 2020 CMT Next Women of Country Tour, which will include additional supporting acts. Cities and ticket information will be announced in the coming weeks.
