Gabby Barrett’s new song, “You’re My Texas” pays homage to her love for her husband, Cade Foehner, a native of the Lone Star State.
Co-written by Barrett with Miranda Lambert, and Hillary Lindsey, the dreamy song illustrates the beauty that lies within the landscape of Texas, as seen from the eyes of the Pennsylvania-raised woman who has found her “home away from home” in a Texas-raised man. Drawing inspiration from Lambert’s appreciation for her home state, Barrett’s stunning vocals honor some of the most beautiful aspects of Texas that have now become a part of her life, from the bluebonnets to the honeysuckles, pine trees, and breathtaking sunsets.
The ”Pick Me Up” singer had a hand in producing “You’re My Texas” alongside Ross Copperman. Together, they created an airy tune that’s dusted with gentle drum beats, a powerful electric guitar solo, and cooing melodies.
“You’re my home away from home / You’re blue bonnets growin’ wild / Boy, no matter where I roam / You’re my Nacogdoches sky / Where I hang my hat when I get restless / You’re my Texas,” Barrett delivers on the chorus.

Gabby Barrett first formed her relationship with Foehner back in 2018 when they competed against each other on the singing competition show American Idol. The pair confirmed their relationship near the end of the season and went on to tie the knot on Oct. 5, 2019 in a beautiful Texas ceremony. The Husband and wife of four years are now parents’ to a son, Augustine Boone (9 months), a daughter Baylah May (2 years), and are preparing to welcome their third child.
“You’re My Texas” follows a string of 2023 releases from Barrett, including the Top 30-and-climbing single “Glory Days,” as well as “Cowboy Back,” and “Growin’ Up Raising You.” These heartfelt and incredibly personal tunes are expected to appear on the MULTI-PLATINUM star’s highly anticipated sophomore album, Chapter & Verse, which is due to drop on February 2, 2024 via Warner Music Nashville.
“Chapter & Verse” Follows Gabby Barrett’s Journey As A Faith-Filled Wife And Mother
Co-produced by Barrett alongside Ross Copperman, the upcoming project gives fans a raw look inside her life as a 23-year-old wife and mom who places a strong value on her faith. The title, Chapter & Verse, refers to the sections and passages found in each book of the Bible, which also speaks on how much her spirituality coincides with her life and career.
“I’m way more intentionally connected to these songs than my first album, I would say. Every song moves me in a certain way, and it’s just me grown up. The past years that I’ve lived, I’ve lived a lot of years in a short amount of time. It’s grown up, it’s fresh, and I’m hoping people really can resonate with it,” Barrett told Entertainment Tonight while discussing the growth behind the new project.
Chapter & Verse will follow her record-breaking debut album, Goldmine, which spawned chart-topping hits such as “The Good Ones” and her debut single, “I Hope.” This project was later expended into a deluxe edition, which added four new songs to the already stacked 13-song track list, including “Pick Me Up,” “Never Get It Back,” “The Good Ones (Wedding Version),” and a cover of Dolly Parton’s “I Will Always Love You.”
The forthcoming collection is available for pre-order HERE.
