Moving homes can be a strenuous task, but the process is slightly easier when the move is happening just one house over. When country music star and “Ruthless” singer Gary Allan found out the home next door, previously owned by the late Country legend Conway Twitty was being sold, he jumped on the chance to claim it.

“I’ve lived next to this house since 2003 and I was renovating my house and I asked if I could tear some trees down in between our property, and they said ‘yeah, we’re moving to Florida, so we don’t care.’ I was like, ‘Wow! Are you going to sell it?’ And they said, ‘yeah,’ and I think I bought it within like three or four texts,” Allan revealed in a statement to his label.

Allan chose to renovate the inside of the house, which was filled with history. Since he has always been a huge fan of Twitty though, he made sure to leave some of the original parts untouched to keep his memory and stories alive.

“It was kinda cool,” he continued. “I bought AND sold my house without a realtor. And then I just finished renovating it. We did a lot to the inside. I left some things that were Conway’s originally. I left the patio just like it was, and his widow that came over gave me a tour book that was shot in there. He used to have fan club parties at his house and he would go in the back and flip burgers for everybody.”

With a waterfront location, the property acquired by Allan a few years ago seems to have brought great joy and comfort to him and his family. With the renovations complete, he is finally able to have a bit more peace and quiet around the house.

“The house has a really cool vibe. It’s on the point of a peninsula. It’s almost got a 360 (degree) view of water, really beautiful and couldn’t be happier. I just finished the renovation, and I renovated the last house I was in, so I feel like I’ve been under construction for five years and it feels so good not to have someone with a hammer in their hand at my house every morning.”

Allan will have to send some time away from his special home as he heads back on the road for his upcoming performances, following the release of his latest album, Ruthless.
