Blake Shelton kicked off his much-anticipated Friends and Heroes 2020 Tour in Portland, Ore. on Thursday evening (Feb. 13) and while his longtime girlfriend, Gwen Stefani, wasn’t able to join him on stage to perform their new duet, “Nobody But You,” Shelton found a sweet way to incorporate her into the show.

A video shared by a fan who attended Thursday’s concert shows Shelton on stage singing the first verse of the song. Stefani’s vocals can be heard harmonizing with Shelton, but she is nowhere to be found until the camera pans to the stage where a video of Stefani singing is displayed on the large screens behind Shelton. As the chorus approaches, Shelton turns and points back to the large screen then sings the chorus along with Stefani’s vocal track as he gazes at the video of Stefani.

“I don’t wanna live without you / I don’t wanna even breathe / I don’t wanna dream without you / I wanna wake up with you next to me / I don’t wanna go down any other road now / I don’t wanna love nobody but you / Looking in your eyes now if I had to die now / I don’t wanna love nobody but you,” they sing throughout the chorus.

“Nobody But You” is Shelton’s latest single and third release from his new album, Fully Loaded: God’s Country. Shelton first heard the song after songwriter Shane McAnally, who co-wrote the tune alongside Ross Copperman, Josh Osborne and Tommy Lee James, pitched it to him while he was on set in Los Angeles.

“I was at The Voice compound and Shane McAnally is on Songland, so they were there doing some cross-promotion. Shane came to my trailer and said, ‘Man, I got a song for you,’” Shelton previously explained. “I knew he had Gwen’s number from a write, so I told him to send it to her as I was being called to set. I actually got the song twice because my producer Scott Hendricks emailed it to me right after.”

Sometime later, he decided to listen to the song and it stopped him right in his tracks.

“Then one day I was driving with Gwen and I said, ‘Hey let’s listen to that song from Shane, because Scott sent it to me too – it must be pretty incredible.’ When I heard it, I was just floored,” he recalled. “I realized how important that song was for me and where I am in my life right now. I just think it’s magical. I literally think it’s important of a song as I’ve ever recorded.”

“Nobody But You” follows Shelton’s latest hits “God’s Country” and “Hell Right,” featuring Trace Adkins.
