How Did Kelsea Ballerini Meet Morgan Evans?

In 2016, a country music awards show unknowingly played matchmaker for one of the genre’s future star couples: Kelsea Ballerini and Morgan Evans. Sparks flew when Ballerini co-hosted Australia’s Country Music Channel Awards in March 2016 with native Australian singer-songwriter Evans.

The chemistry was undeniable at the after-party when Morgan offered Kelsea a celebratory shot. Kelsea later told People, “He was like, ‘Let’s take a shot,’. I remember taking that shot and putting it down and looking at him like, ‘Oh…he’s superhot.’ Later that night he leaned over and asked if he could kiss me, like a proper gentleman, and I said yes.”

Their fast-paced relationship culminated with a proposal less than a year later when Morgan popped the question on Christmas Day.

“I had the ring custom made with a diamond I picked from a local designer here in Nashville,” Morgan told PeopleStyle. “I wanted it to be classic and beautiful, like her.”

Kelsea revealed on Instagram how Morgan proposed. “This morning, 9 months and 13 days later, he got down on one knee in the kitchen while I was burning pancakes and asked me to marry him. Loving him has been the greatest gift of my life. And now I get to do it for life. #HECALLEDDIBS.”

Morgan added, “When you know, you know … she’s perfect. #ultimatedibs”

In December 2017, the couple tied the knot in an intimate ceremony on the beach in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Bringing their love story full circle, Kelsea and Morgan, along with their 100 guests, toasted with a tequila shot. “It’s a little bit different,” Kelsea told People, “but that’s how we started.”

Kelsea Ballerini recently shared the secret to their marriage during an interview with Extra and revealed that therapy is key for the couple.

“Honestly, like, we both go separately, we go together. I think it’s really important. Obviously, we have a strange life,” she shared. “Like, we are both really busy and don’t get to spend as much time together… And just trying to find, like, the things that work for us.”
