Eric Church and his wife Katherine Blasingame have never been the kind of couple to flaunt their relationship. They rarely walk red carpets together and neither one of them is very active on social media, but behind closed doors, they have a strong relationship that has withstood the test of time.
Here’s a look back at their very private love story.
While very little is known about the beginning stages of their relationship, we know that music is what brought them together.
When they met, Blasingame was a music publisher and Church’s career was just starting out.
“She was trying to hook me up to write with one of her writers that she represented, that was how we met,” Church revealed in a 2012 interview with Taste of Country.
The pair tied the knot on January 8, 2008 at the Westglow Spa & Resort in Blowing Rock, North Carolina.
“Katherine and I stayed there last year, and we just fell in love with the place,” the singer shared with CMT after the wedding. “We decided that it would be the ideal spot to get married, up in the North Carolina mountains, with just family around us. I can’t imagine a more perfect spot.”
At the wedding, Church surprised his new bride by performing “You Make It Look So Easy,” a song he wrote especially for the wedding.
“I hate love songs,” he later confessed to The Boot. “I have a hard time with them. I think they’ve been done so many times, and I hate stuff that’s just your cliches. I thought, ‘There’s got to be another way to do this.’ I decided that the best way was to just be honest. There’s a ‘drink too much’ line in there. That’s honest.”
“You Make It Look So Easy” was later released on Church’s 2009 album, Carolina.
Eric Church and Katherine Blasingame are parents to two sons; Boone McCoy (born 2011) and Tennessee Hawkins (born 2015).
