Could Kacey Musgraves land a part in the upcoming live-action remake of Disney’s The Little Mermaid? According to a few reliable sources, it’s possible!

DisInsider reports that Disney has recently had Zoom meetings with Musgraves and is looking to potentially cast her for the role of Vanessa, the human persona that villain Ursula transforms into during the film.

Although multiple sources confirmed the meetings between Disney and the six-time Grammy winner, no official statement has been made from either party.

The previously-announced all-star cast for the much-anticipated new film includes Halle Bailey as Ariel, Jonah-Hauer King as Prince Eric, Melissa McCarthy as  Ursula, Javier Bardem as King Triton, Jacob Tremblay as Flounder, Daveed Diggs as Sebastian and Awkwafina as Scuttle.

If Musgraves does in fact land the role, this won’t be her first time working with Disney. She previously recorded the song “All Is Found” for the Frozen 2 soundtrack. And in 2015, she appeared on the collaborative We Love Disney album, with a cover of “A Spoonful of Sugar” from Mary Poppins.

That same year, she professed her love of The Little Mermaid in an exclusive promo clip for the We Love Disney album, admitting she used to be “pretty obsessed” with Ariel and “knew the movie by heart.” Click below to watch.
