During his Houston concert on Friday, August 15, Jason Aldean made true to his previous promise to 13-year-old Devarje “DJ” Daniel, who is bravely battling brain and spinal cancer.
The young boy has been attempting to get ahold of the country artist since the start of the summer when he first shared a TikTok video with a direct call to Aldean. In the video, he asked if anyone knew Jason Aldean because he was hoping to put together a concert in Texas to raise money for kids with cancer.
The clip ended up reaching major news sites as well as Aldean himself. The country star responded to DJ’s message with a video of his own featuring Darius Rucker, who appeared on the screen first before being joined by the “Whiskey Drink” singer.

“Guess what, I heard ya. I know Jason Aldean,” Rucker noted.
“Hey what’s up, DJ?” Aldean said as he moved in next to Rucker. “Got your message and wanna get you out to a show. Let’s talk more about doing a show or doing something to help the kids [like] you were talking about. We’ll be in touch, my man.”
Aldean stuck to his word and ended up bringing DJ out on stage in his home state of Texas over the weekend during a stop at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion as part of his FULL THROTTLE Tour.

Fans captured the moment Aldean introduced DJ and his family before the massive Houston crowd. He revealed that for the past couple of months, he has been working to find the right time to meet DJ and to do his part to help support kids facing cancer.
Seconds later, DJ, his dad, Theodis Daniel, as well as co-founders of Heroes for Children, Jenny Lawson and Larissa Linton made their way onto the stage. He allowed the crowd to cheer loudly for DJ before sharing some insight into their time spent together earlier that day.
“I spent a few hours with this guy today, and when I tell you he’s a kid that will brighten your day up, I’m not kidding. This guy is pretty unbelievable right here,” Aldean told the crowd while putting his arm around Daniel, who responded to the love by forming a heart with his hands and holding it up to the fans.

He proceeded to share that he was also holding up to his promise to help raise funds for kids fighting cancer. So with the help of his tour sponsor Patriot Mobile and the Houston Astros, Aldean revealed that he was able to present a check for over $200,000 to the Texas-based nonprofit, Heroes for Children, which “helps to ensure no family faces childhood cancer alone.”
“Anybody who thinks they’re having a rough day, this guy right here is an inspiration, should be an inspiration to everybody,” Aldean stressed. “This is what it’s all about right here. He’s got a great dad in his corner, and man I just wanna say thanks for letting us hangout with him today. You asked us to raise some money and that’s exactly what we did.”

He then looked to DJ and said, “We love you, man. We’re gonna stay in touch. We’re buddies now, right?”
Before exiting the stage, DJ informed Aldean he had something he wanted to tell the crowd. Holding onto the mic, he let his personality shine with his hilarious joke.
DJ asked, “Are y’all parking tickets?” And then earned a round of laughs from Aldean and the audience as he followed up with, “‘Cause I heard y’all got hella fine written all over you.”

The boy offered a small smile and a wave as he took in his last moments on the stage. During the appearance, DJ was dressed in his full police uniform, the same outfit he wears in most of his videos, including the original one addressed to Aldean.
The Georgia native didn’t just spend time on stage with DJ. In addition to their heartwarming on moment at the concert, another video found the two of them enjoying a round of mini golf at Puttshack for a Heroes for Children event. In addition to hosting the event at Puttshack mini golf, Aldean’s partnership with the Houston Astros also gave a few kids the chance to attend batting practice including meet-and-greets on site with some of its players and free tickets to a future Astros game, ahead of Aldean’s sold-out show in Houston. In attendance were Hall of Famers Roger Clemens and Jeff Bagwell, who spent the day golfing and taking pictures with families battling pediatric cancer.

DJ Pursues Dream Of Becoming A Police Officer
When he’s not working to raise awareness and funds in the fight against childhood cancer, DJ is pursuing his dreams of becoming a police officer one day. According to FOX 7, he has been sworn in by more than 1,300 agencies, including multiple on May 19. Prior to that, he was sworn in as an honorary Secret Service agent by U.S. president Donald Trump’s administration.
Devarje “DJ” Daniel is a remarkable example of resilience and hope, achieving far more in his young life than doctors expected when he was given only months to live as a small child. Back in May, PEOPLE reported that DJ was diagnosed with brain and spinal cancer in 2018. Initially, doctors predicted he would live five months, but that eventually turned into five years and now after seven years, he is still going strong despite his 13 brain surgeries.
“He’s beating the odds,” his father shared.

Latest Health Update
Unfortunately, Theodis also revealed that as of May, DJ had developed three new tumors.
“It’s rough,” he admitted. “There isn’t a class that can teach you how to deal with it. You’re hearing that your child has a nasty disease.”
Despite his diagnoses, DJ clearly hasn’t let anything hold him back.
“We’re just going around showing people, ‘Hey, you do care for one another. Let’s give compassion and let’s try to join and help each other get through things’,” he told FOX 7.
In addition to Jason Aldean and his family, DJ has the support of so many others in the world, including President Donald Trump. After being sworn in as an official agent of the United States Secret Service, he was incited to visit the president in the Oval Office.
The White House then released a statement showing their support for the young boy.
“We’re lifting up Agent DJ Daniel in prayer after his dad, Theodis, shared that DJ is now facing three new tumors,” the message read on X, formerly Twitter. “DJ is one of the strongest, bravest young men—and has now been sworn into 1,351 law enforcement agencies across the country. Agent Daniel, you’re a true legend. 🇺🇸.”
DJ continues to shares updates with his health and his various adventures in law enforcement across TikTok.
