Jay Allen celebrates two months of sobriety in an Instagram post shared with his followers on the morning of Tuesday, July 23.

The rising country star admitted that reaching this milestone in his journey has left him feeling incredibly proud in his ability to withhold from drinking alcohol as well as abusing Adderall.

His caption read, “I woke up this morning and looked at my calendar to see this… 60 days free from alcohol and abusing adderall. It seems so small, but to me, it’s my biggest accomplishment yet. #sober

The post featured a black image that had the words “2 months sober” typed out. He paired these words with his song “Better Now,” which appears on his debut album, Des Moines.

Many users in the comment section took the time to congratulate him on this major feat and some even spoke out about their own journeys with sobriety.

One fan wrote, “This is a big deal!! Congratulations! I have been drug-free for 19 years and smoke-free for 66 days! I celebrate these accomplishments and I hope you do too!!”

“That is a huge accomplishment, congratulations. You should be very proud,” said another

This news comes nearly a month after Allen unveiled his 10-song project. This collection of sentimental tunes and addicting melodies not only pays homage to his home state, but it also continues to honor his late mother and the ongoing fight against Alzheimer’s. He takes listeners on a musical journey that documents his life in the past 11 years since leaving his home in Iowa to pursue music full time in Nashville. In that time he has experienced divorce, loss, love, growth and plenty of healing.

One song in particular titled “Whiskey In The World,” serves as the focal track of the album as it hones in on Allen’s struggle with turning to alcohol following the loss of his mother as a way to deal with the grief. Now that he is sober, Allen is using his experience to spread awareness about the dangers of substance abuse and the kind of impact it can have on your life.

He shares, “I want my fans and listeners to understand that while it’s natural to lose oneself, no amount of alcohol can truly help one overcome life’s hardships. It’s crucial to find healthier ways to cope with and process loss.”

The album also includes fan favorites such as “New Girl,” “Better Now,” “No Present Like The Time,” and more.
