The 2019 CMA Awards are full of female empowerment. There are three female hosts, a collaboration of iconic females in the opening number and Jennifer Nettles is joining in on that movement with her “Play Our F*&^N Records” statement pantsuit.
With her arms held straight out and a grin from ear to ear, Nettles calls out country music radio for not playing enough female records. Women have historically struggled for equal airplay for as long as time can tell. Female artists everywhere are tired of playing second fiddle to men and are standing up to make their case. We have to give her the credit, she does say, “Please and Thank You.”
Nettles called upon designer Christian Siriano and New York Street Artist Alice Mizrachi to create her red carpet look. According to a press release, Nettles’ “hope is to inspire the conversation about country music’s need to play more women artists on radio and playlisting.”
Kudos to Jennifer Nettles for taking a stand on the issue while walking the red carpet at The 53rd Annual CMA Awards.
