The Sugarland star plays the role of Aimee-Leigh Gemstone in the series, and while she only appears in a handful of episodes, her character plays an important role in the storyline.
The Righteous Gemstones stars Danny McBride (Jesse Gemstone), John Goodman (Dr. Eli Gemstone), Edi Patterson (Judy Gemstone) and Adam Devine (Kelvin Gemstone). The sitcom follows the story of a world-renowned televangelist family who has “a long tradition of deviance, greed and charitable work.”
Aimee-Leigh is the deceased wife of Eli and mother of Jesse, Judy and Kelvin. She appears via flashbacks and in photographs throughout the series.
“Aimee-Leigh is pretty natural to me, once I tapped into my Southern Baptist roots,” Nettles admitted in an interview with Gold Derby.
