As the anticipation for the September 27 release of Jon Pardi’s new album, Heartache Medication, continues to build, the California native is giving fans another taste of new music with the release of “Ain’t Always The Cowboy.”

Written by Brandon Kinney and Josh Thompson, “Ain’t Always The Cowboy” is as country as it gets.

A tip of the hat to George Strait’s 1985 hit “The Cowboy Rides Away,” “Ain’t Always The Cowboy” assures listeners the man isn’t always the one who ends relationship. Sometimes, it’s the woman with a “tumbleweed heart.”

“It ain’t always the cowboy / That ain’t got a lot of hang around / Ain’t got no settle down in their boots / Gone’s just what they do / That restless, runnin’, searchin’ for somethin’ / Leavin’ love in the dust of a midnight Chevrolet / It ain’t always the cowboy that rides away,” Pardi sings throughout the chorus.

In a post shared to his Facebook page, Pardi dedicated the track to “all the women out there chasing their dreams.”

Pardi plans to continue to release one song a month ahead of the September 27 release of Heartache Medication. Fans can pre-order or pre-save the album HERE.
