Alabama’s Rock The South music festival, also known as the “Biggest Party in the South,” has been postponed after the state received “unprecedented amounts of rainfall” within the past week.

The three-day event was originally scheduled to take place at the Fields of Decatur in Decatur, AL from June 11-13. However, a new statement from festival organizers and the City of Decatur reveals the unfortunate news that fans will have to wait a few more months before getting to experience the fun-filled weekend of live music as planned.

Instead, Rock The South will now run the weekend of October 1st through 4th. The message to fans reveals that organizers had “no choice” but to make this last-minute call.  Luckily, those who attend the festival’s new date will still get to see performances from all three previously announced headliners. Zach Top will take the stage on Thursday, Oct. 1 followed by Jason Aldean on Friday, Oct. 2 and Riley Green on Sunday, Oct.4.

“The monumental amount of rain that has fallen at the event site gives us no choice but to postpone the festival,” said festival organizers. “We are thankful that the headliners are available for the new dates, and appreciate the patience and support of all involved as we look to put on a great Rock the South later this year.”

On top of all the original headliners returning in the fall, Rock The South will also expand to four days with an additional night led by Jessie Murph on Saturday, Oct. 3. There will be no additional cost to ticket holders for the extra day of live music.

Most of the scheduled artists are still expected to perform on the new dates. Festival organizers expected to announce an updated daily lineup in the coming weeks.

“The safety of our festival attendees, artists, and staff is paramount, and we’re confident that the rescheduled dates will ensure an enjoyable festival experience for all,” they added.

Tickets and camping packages from the original dates will remain valid for the new festival dates. Organizers will contact ticket holders next week with additional details for those unable to attend the rescheduled Rock the South event in October.
