Country trio Chapel Hart will be joined by Darius Rucker for the Season 17 finale of America’s Got Talent (AGT).
The group, comprised of sisters Danica and Devynn Hart and their cousin Trea Swindle first captured the hearts of viewers, the judges and several country megastars like Rucker during their AGT audition. They performed their original Dolly Parton-inspired song, “You Can Have Him Jolene” and earned a “Golden Buzzer.”
“Like so many people, I was blown away when I saw Chapel Hart’s original response to ‘Jolene’ during their audition,” Rucker said of the trio. “Their energy on that stage has been contagious to watch and I’m honored they asked me to be part of their finale experience – especially to perform one of my favorite songs of all time!”
This is a big week for the trio because not only will they make an appearance alongside the “Wagon Wheel” singer for the season finale, but they will also take the stage for their Grand Ole Opry debut.
After their audition, Rucker took to social media to sing their praises and even teased that the group will make a special appearance on his forthcoming album. “Already put them on my next record,” he wrote.
Chapel Hart caught up with TMZ to share their excitement about being included on Rucker’s new album.
“It’s been so crazy, even Darius Rucker… We recorded a song with him a little while ago, so, we’ve been having to be quiet about it and he just kind of let the cat out of the bag the other day,” Danica shared.
Devynn added that Rucker was one of the first artists to give them a chance in the industry and this opportunity to collaborate with him is a direct result of that.
“He really took a chance on us and he saw some of our stuff online and he was like ‘I love what you ladies are doing. I have an idea and I want to hear you guys on this song,’” she said.
The Mississippi trio also revealed to the outlet how Rucker directly reached out to them via social media and that they didn’t believe it was really him at first.
“He sent us a message on Twitter and I was like y’all I think we’re going spammed because somebody is saying that they’re Darius Rucker,” Trea explained, before Danica added, “there is a Darius Rucker account that’s playing with our emotions and I think he heard us sing a version of ‘Delta Dawn’ and we saw that he reshared it and we were like ‘whatttt?’ and then we did Tanya Tucker and then a little bit after that he was like ‘I just wanted to reach out and say hey’ and we’re like ‘oh my God.’”
Chapel Hart recently gave a hard-hitting performance that continued to wow the judges Simon Cowell, Sofía Vergara, Heidi Klum, and Howie Mandel and host Terry Crews. During the AGT semi-finals on Tuesday (Aug. 16), they brought another original song to the stage titled, “The Girls Are Back In Town.”
On Wednesday (Sept. 14), Chapel Hart and Darius Rucker will appear on the season finale airing on NBC at 8/7c. Following this performance, the trio will make their Opry debut in Nashville on Sept. 17.
