Willie Nelson and Kacey Musgraves were the talk of the Palomino Festival with their surprise collaborative performance over the weekend.

The country superstars joined forces to perform Nelson’s chart-topping hit, “On The Road Again,” at the inaugural Palomino Festival, which was held at the iconic Brookside at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California on Saturday, July 9.

“So, my actual Grandpa is here in the audience tonight from Texas and my other Grandpa is here from Texas,” Musgraves joked as she pointed at Nelson.

The 89-year-old grabbed his guitar and strummed along as they effortlessly blended their unique vocals.

Following the performance, the artists embraced and Musgraves bowed down to Nelson as he exited the stage.

“That was it, show’s over,” the songstress joked.

Willie Nelson & Family, Jason Isbell And The 400 Unit, Turnpike Troubadours, Orville Peck, Old Crow Medicine Show, and more also performed during the Palomino Festival.

This isn’t the first time that Nelson and Musgraves have collaborated. The artists previously teamed up for a performance of “Rainbow Connection” at the CMA Awards in 2019. Nelson and Musgraves also released a duet, “Are You Sure,” on Musgraves’ project, Pageant Material, in 2015.

Kacey Musgraves is a longtime fan of the country music icon and even has a special, one-of-a-kind Willie Nelson artifact framed in her home.

During a recent walkthrough of her serene Nashville home on Architectural Digest, Musgraves revealed a prized possession from Nelson that she proudly has framed in her living room.

“He rolled this huge fatty and we all sat around and smoked it with him,” Musgraves shared in the clip. “Then he said, ‘Save the rest for another time,’ and I did.”

“That’s gonna stay there unless I need to break it in case of an emergency,” she joked.
