Kane Brown performed his latest Top 40 hit, “Be Like That,” at the 2020 Billboard Music Awards on Wednesday (Oct. 14), live from Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, CA.

The country superstar was joined by collaborators Swae Lee and Khalid for the debut live (in-person) performance of the track. The trio previously performed the song together on the 2020 iHeartRadio Music Festival, however, Brown performed virtually from Nashville.

“I’m excited to actually get on stage with Swae and Khalid. I feel like it’s my first interaction with other people. We’ve gotten to do some of these other TV shows but I’ve done it by myself or with my band. So it’s cool to see these guys and just get up there and have fun,” Brown explained of the performance ahead of the show. “It’s gonna be a good time, we’re boys, we’re gonna be hanging out and having fun.”

“Be Like That” was co-written by Brown alongside Swae Lee, Khalid, Alexander Izquierdo, Michael Len Williams II and Charlie Handsome and is the third single from Brown’s latest EP, Mixtape, Vol. 1.

“It’s about all the different feelings you can have in a relationship. And trying not to overthink it,” Brown previously told Billboard of the song.

Additionally, Brown is nominated for three awards including Top Country Artist, Top Country Male Artist and Top Country Album.

The 2020 Billboard Music Awards also featured performances from Luke Combs and Garth Brooks as well as Demi Lovato, Post Malone, BTS, Alicia Keys, Doja Cat, Sia and more. The Billboard Music Awards are produced by Dick Clark Productions. Amy Thurlow, Mark Bracco, Barry Adelman, Linda Gierahn, Kelly Clarkson and Robert Deaton are executive producers.

Hosted by Kelly Clarkson, the star-studded event aired on Wednesday, October 14 (live 8:00-11:00 PM ET/delayed PT) on NBC.

The 2020 Billboard Music Awards were originally scheduled to take place in Las Vegas on Wednesday, April 29, but were forced to be postponed due to the ongoing pandemic.
