Keith Urban recently wrapped the European leg of his The Speed Of Now Tour and sported a surprising ensemble during the final night of the trek: a kilt!

When Urban’s tour rolled through Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland, the country superstar fully embraced the local culture, and his mother’s Scottish heritage, by donning a kilt on stage. In fact, Urban and his entire band sported kilts for the occasion.

After the show, the “Wild Hearts” singer took to social media to thank fans for coming out to the show alongside a few photos from the concert.

“EDINBURGH !!!!! You made a Monday night feel like a Friday! It was an honor to don the kilt – the guys and I truly felt like we could take on the world,” Urban shared. “But most importantly, it allowed me to fully embrace my mother’s heritage. Long live the McKinnons!!! Thank you for a great end to this run and I’m already looking forward to the day we’re back.”

The four-time GRAMMY winner discussed his kilt-wearing during an interview on Sunrise Australia and said the experience was “liberating.”

The Sunrise host jokingly asked Urban if wearing a kilt posed a hazard on stage.

“Only for the people in the front row, I think,” he laughed, adding, “Beware of flying objects!”

In all seriousness, Urban was proud to wear the kilt in honor of his mother’s side of the family.

“My mother’s family is Scottish going back a ways,” he revealed.

Following the sold-out shows in the U.K, Keith Urban is heading back to the states for three back-to-back nights in Las Vegas at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. He’ll then perform at Nashville’s CMA Fest before launching the U.S. leg of his The Speed Of Now Tour on June 17 in Tampa, Florida.

The superstar says it feels “amazing” to be back on stage once again.

“We’ve missed it so much and by the looks of it, the audience has too,” he said.
