Kelly Clarkson covered Dan + Shay’s mega-hit “Tequila” on her popular “Kellyoke” segment in a pre-taped episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show.
The just-released clip finds the vocal powerhouse putting her own spin on the chart-topping hit, which was written by Dan Smyers, Nicolle Galyon and Jordan Reynolds. “Tequila” was crowned with the Grammy Award for Best Country Duo/Group Performance at the 61st Grammy Awards as well as Single and Song of the Year at the 54th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards.
Dan + Shay have a history with Clarkson as they enlisted her for “Keeping Score,” a collaboration on their self-titled third studio album. The artists joined forces to perform the song on the 2019 ACM Awards.
Previous “Kellyoke” segments have featured Clarkson covering songs such as Carrie Underwood’s “Before He Cheats,” Dolly Parton’s “9 to 5” and Shania Twain’s “Any Man Of Mine.”
Clarkson is currently practicing social distancing while residing at her family’s ranch in Montana. The superstar has been checking in with fans often via social media and is gearing up to release a brand new song called “I Dare You” on April 16.
