Blake Shelton is currently in his farewell season of NBC’s The Voice. Once his final day comes, fellow coach, Kelly Clarkson says she’s prepared to send him out on a good note.

“It’s Blake’s last season. I’m so glad I’m here for it,” Clarkson told Entertainment Tonight. “One, I kinda want to be the one to kick him out the door, but also I want to hug him while he’s going.”

The “No Body” singer has gotten pretty comfortable in his mentor chair. In fact, he has served the longest run with a total of 23 seasons, and he earned his ninth win since Season 1 of the show when rising star Bryce Leatherwood claimed first place with Team Blake in 2022.

“I have mixed feelings. I love him, but I get it,” Clarkson added. “He’s been doing it for so long, and I get it that it’s time, you want to move on, or do something different.”

Shelton announced that he would be stepping down from the show just hours after it was revealed that he would be joined by Kelly Clarkson, Niall Horan and Chance The Rapper on the 2023 season.

Clarkson first joined the show as a coach in Season 14, and she continued for eight consecutive seasons. After taking a brief hiatus in Season 22, she returned for Season 23 which premiered in March.

“He’s part of the reason why The Voice is The Voice,” the “Miss Independent” singer shared. “In a funny way I’m glad I get to be like, ‘Later,’ but at the same time I think everyone’s going to miss him.”

Now that the latest season is in full swing, Clarkson shared that Shelton’s final run has been nothing short of a good time.

“They’re great, they’re so fun and easy to work with,” she said of the newest round of contestants. “This has literally been one of my favorite [seasons]. I love that for Blake too.”

She added, “I love that for Blake’s last season, he’s getting to go out in style with Chance and Niall. They’re so fun, easy to work with and we just have a good time. That’s a cool way to go out, you know?”

While Shelton will be leaving plenty behind, once he makes his final exit, he hopes to take one special piece of memorabilia with him – his iconic red chair

“I don’t know if they’re gonna offer that or not…I feel like they owe me a damn chair though,” he told PEOPLE. “I mean, who else can sit in my chair? It’s like the three bears — I don’t want anybody else sitting in my chair. I’m gonna try to get that away from them. Maybe I’ll have to buy it or something.”

He explained that this request could be a challenge, but he’s willing to put up a good fight.

“I’m sure they’re gonna say, ‘Well, the one thing you took was a lot of our money, so you should be happy with that,’” he joked.

As for what’s next, the “No Body” singer will continue to stay busy filming USA’s Barmageddon and preparing for his upcoming shows. He recently wrapped up his headlining Back to the Honky Tonk Tour with Jackson Dean and Carly Pearce. This 18-date run marked Shelton’s first headlining trek since his consecutive Friends & Heroes Tour outings.

Shelton took to social media to share a group photo that commemorates the end to his tour.

“Gotta take a minute to recognize the band and crew that worked day in and day out to bring the biggest honky tonk on the road from city to city,” he wrote in the caption. “It wouldn’t be possible without any of them!!! And to @carlypearce and @thejacksondean, it was awesome to have y’all out with us. Thanks for kicking off the party every night. This was an incredible couple months!!! #BackToTheHonkyTonk

This summer, he will continue to perform at a variety of music festivals including Barefoot Country 2023 (June 16), Jam Ranch (June 22), Country Jam 2023 (June 23-25), Sunfest Country Music Festival (Aug. 4, 6), Coastal Country Jam 2023 (Sept. 16-17), and Boots In The Park (Sept. 22-23).
