Kenny Chesney – Blue Chair Bay

It has officially been 10 years since Kenny Chesney founded Blue Chair Bay® Rum. To celebrate the milestone anniversary of his successful spirits brand, the country star released a very limited edition of 16-year-old rum from the U.S. Virgin Islands on National Rum Day.

10th Anniversary

“Ten years? Time flies when you’re having fun, I guess. But to celebrate a decade of Blue Chair Bay Rum, I wanted to do something really awesome to mark all the work of so many great people,” Chesney shared.

According to a recent press release, Blue Chair Bay’s 10th Anniversary Rum was created to emphasize the brand’s easy-going, Island-soaked lifestyle that’s best enjoyed with a good rum.

“We scoured the world looking for a rum that reflected all that Blue Chair Bay is, and more. And as all good pirates know: search and you will find! We unearthed 20 barrels of rum from the USVI that’s been barrel-aged for an almost unheard of 16 years.”

He Takes Pride In The Brand

While speaking to FOX Business about the brand’s latest release and anniversary milestone, Chesney declared the rum to be “ridiculously smooth,” making it a “very special treat” for fellow rum drinkers.

Blue Chair Bay honored the members of Chesney’s dedicated fanbase, “No Shoes Nation,” with a pre-sale event that took place on August 16. However, since there were just 20 barrels found on the U.S. Virgin Islands, there are only a total of 6,600 bottles of Blue Chair Bay’s 10th Anniversary Rum available.

For those who weren’t able to get their hands on a bottle, don’t give up hope because the company has confirmed that a limited quantity will be available in select stores in September.

Blue Chair Bay Rum is a collection of premium-blended rums that was inspired on the shores of the Caribbean and reflects the multi-platinum songwriter/superstar’s commitment to the Island lifestyle. Each bottle of Chesney’s rum is made with exceptional care using natural ingredients so that it can be enjoyed all day long.

How It Began

“It had been a magical day with all my friends down there, just drifting and laughing, listening to music,” Chesney told FOX as he recalled the day inspiration struck. “As the sun set, I literally thought, ‘I wish I could bottle this up.’ Obviously, I drink a lot of rum. I live the life, I guess.”

What started out as a “crazy dream” has evolved into one of the most successful independent spirits brands that sells over 200,000 cases each year and offers 11 unique flavored rums including Banana, Mocha, Pineapple, Vanilla, Key Lime, and more.

“When I started Blue Chair Bay Rum, it was a crazy dream,” Chesney told FOX. “But I had a sense of what I wanted: a liquid that distilled a perfect day on the water in the islands. For anyone who’s ever dreamed of those kinds of days or nights, I wanted something that captured that feeling.”

Hard Work And Dedication

Over the years, the “American Kids” singer has encountered plenty of trials and tribulations while building the brand, especially seeing as how he is the sole owner.

“What’s challenging is unlike a lot of people who have ‘their brand,’ Blue Chair Bay is wholly owned by me. We are an independent company, and we do everything,” Chesney explained. “I’ve got an amazing team of people who work with me, but this isn’t somebody handing us a check, me showing up for the photo shoot and giving some interviews. Blue Chair Bay is me, and some days, sitting in meetings and talking about development — it’s a lot.”

Despite any obstacles that have come through in the past decade, the brand has continued to receive great acclaim not only for the uniquely smooth flavors but also for the memories made for those 21+ with the help of Blue Chair Bay Rum.

Accolades include the Gold Medal at the WSWA Spirits Tasting, Gold at the Miami Rum Renaissance Festival, Best Overall Rum and Gold Medal at the 2023 Spirits of Americas and multiple Gold Awards from the Fifty Best. As demand for such an exclusive rum heightens, Blue Chair Bay will continue to explore and search the world for select spirits.

“Blue Chair Bay Rum is one of Kenny’s passion projects. He loves rum, he loves the Caribbean, and he loves his fans. It’s all bottled up in Blue Chair,” shares David Farmer, President of Blue Chair Bay Rum.

2023 Tour Came To A Close

Kenny Chesney’s most recent headlining I Go Back Tour wrapped up earlier this year after its run across the U.S. with stops in State College, PA., Greensboro, NC, Grand Rapids, MI, Grand Forks, ND, Sioux Falls, SD, Jacksonville, FL, Fort Wayne, IN, Lexington, KY, and more. With this stint of shows, Chesney got to visit arenas that he hasn’t played in several years, which made this trek even more special to the eight-time Entertainer of the Year.

Over the summer, Kenny Chesney has continued to perform at a variety of carefree festivals, however, he has yet to announce his next set of tour dates.
