Lady A is starting the new year on a high note as the trio’s latest single, “Champagne Night,” sits at the top of the country radio charts.
The song is No.1 on the Mediabase/Country Aircheck Singles chart for the third consecutive week and remains at the top of Billboard’s Country Airplay chart for the second week.
“Champagne Night” is the group’s 11th career chart-topping hit and the first song from NBC’s primetime series Songland to become a radio single.

“Since we started the journey with ‘Champagne Night’ every step of the process has been so special to us,” Lady A’s Hillary Scott shared in a statement. “We couldn’t be more thankful for all the support from our fans and friends at country radio and to Songland for believing in the song as much as we did. I can’t believe we get to start 2021 off with a multi-week No. One….it almost feels unreal!”
The carefree tune, which was written on Songland by award-winning songwriter Shane McAnally, aspiring songwriter Madeline Merlo and the trio, offers a different perspective of a night out on the town and finds the group trading fancy glasses for plastic drinkware and champagne for beer.
“Raisin’ plastic cups to a life of luxury/ C’est la vie on a Friday/ We get dressed up in a blue jean tux/ And we go where we don’t hear the highway/Don’t need doubles and bubbles/To get in all kinds of trouble/ Out in the country/ Don’t need a crystal chandelier/ To have a real good time/ We’re drinkin’ beer on a champagne night/ A champagne night,” the trio sings throughout the chorus.
The song shot to the No.1 spot on iTunes’ all-genre chart upon its release and is also featured on the deluxe edition of Lady A’s latest album, OCEAN.
