Hillary Scott of Lady A is nearly three months into life as a mom of four, and things couldn’t be going better with another newborn in the house. Among all the emotions she has felt since welcoming her newest daughter, Selah Jean, a deep sense of gratitude stands out as she looks back on the miscarriage she experienced back in 2015.

Scott and her husband, Chris Tyrrell celebrated the arrival of their baby girl on July 25, 2025. Now, with four young girls at home, Scott says her heart, and her hands, are fuller than ever and she doesn’t take a second for granted as she knows how precious life is.

“It’s been 10 years since our pregnancy loss,” Scott told PEOPLE.  “Your heart remembers, and your body remembers. You just have to really choose gratitude and thankfulness that God saw fit to send us not just our twins, but another little girl.”

Despite the heartbreak they once faced, Scott says their family’s story proves that it is possible to come out on the other side and to create a home that is filled with joy even after pain.

“We are in a really sweet place right now,” she added “Our house is full, and our hearts are full and we’re just adjusting to life with a newborn again, and it’s so fun. She’s doing wonderful.”

The couple has embraced the chaos and joy that come with life as a family of six. Plus, they have had the pleasure of watching their older daughter’s Eisele Kaye, 12, and Emory JoAnn and Betsy Mack, 7, step into their new roles as big sisters.

“[Selah’s] sisters are just so smitten with her,” explains Scott. “I feel like my older girls come down the stairs every morning, and if I’m feeding her or she’s waking up, it’s like Christmas morning every day. It’s just so sweet.”

Hillary Scott isn’t the only member of Lady A who is staying busy at home with little ones. Charles Kelley and his wife Cassie also expanded their family recently with the birth of their baby boy, Archer Lancaster Kelly, on September 16.

“For the past four or five years, we were like, ‘Okay, it’s just not in the cards and we’re completely happy with our life,’” Kelley admitted to the outlet. “Then it was almost like the minute we stopped trying and thinking about it, it just happened.”

Meanwhile, their third band member, Dave Haywood and his wife Kelli became a family of five last July 2024 when they welcomed their third child, a son named Joseph Michael Haywood.

“I mean, what are the chances we are all in the same season of life again?” adds Scott “I can’t even express just how much joy it brings for all of us — not only in our individual families, but also as the collective Lady A family. We’re just so overjoyed.”

The country trio is currently gearing up to return to the road this winter on the 2025 THIS WINTER’S NIGHT TOUR in support of On This Winter’s Night (Volume 2), their first full holiday album in 13 years. Even though Hillary Scott is still fresh into her new chapter, she is taking things one day at a time and getting stronger in the process. Luckily, she admits this was her “easiest” pregnancy yet.

“I was not expecting being an ‘older mom,’ but Selah was really sweet to me. Plus, I think also having three older girls to just wake up and show up for and run around with has helped my recovery. I’m just really not putting too much pressure on myself. I’m just really feeling my way through each day.”

Scott shared that there is no concrete plan for how to balance having a four-month-old baby and being on a road, but her focus is more on looking forward to the exciting part of that time of year.

“The holiday season just becomes more and more magical with each year and so, we will definitely be bringing that magic that [the kids] inspire us with into every show.”

Lady A’s first-ever Christmas tour will launch Dec. 5 in Atlanta, GA and continue across the U.S. until bringing things to a close with a three-night run at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium. This tour will feature a whole lot of festive joy as they celebrate their accompanying holiday project. This collection features 11 tracks that intertwine holiday classics with timeless originals.
